Wes Denzel - Her Poem (Single)
Gearing up for his first show of the new year with the first hip-hop performance at the newly opened venue, Stable Hall, Wes Denzel releases his first single of 2024 titled “Her Poem.” Wes Denzel addresses a love interest poetically, from self-doubt to loving you until the break of dawn, not needing you to be the only thing on his mind. It’s a past love affair that seems to be rekindling back to whole again; he nurtures her to familiar ground, touching on those pleasure points to feel the embrace of euphoria. The record comes alive thanks to visual direction by Trent Owen, who sits Wes in a background of pink to create a vibrant mood to send positive energy to the listeners and exact a vivid perspective in its viewing.
Myracle Jae - Nirvana (Single)
Who knows talent like Smooth Vega? He continues to introduce more upcoming stars to the masses who capture an essence, and his latest introduction is an extraordinary songstress, Myracle Jae, who has warmed our hearts and souls with her latest single, “Nirvana.” The topic of discussion begins with a familiar theme; it’s always the same, but its execution matters the most: the heartbreak & the aftermath. Everyone goes through it, but we hurt differently, and Myracle confesses she has been through the wringer with it, but her search to find herself again is complete. It’s time to go away and be free with a new companion, into an oasis of guilty free pleasures and something to keep her soul at peace again. The story unravels more of her blissful joy to be with this love interest for the moment, the experience, and the compassion. Myracle Jae's vocals are angelic in this tale and reflect such a vibrant tone that once the beauty of her voice hits your ears, it undoubtedly puts you in a trance of relaxation to enjoy over and over again. I’m excited to see what is next in her journey, but if I know Smooth Vega, her future will be bright with his guidance.
DYDINIE - Donnie’s Way (Video)
Introduced to us earlier in the week by the video’s director & tree team maestro, Sage, who, behind the lens cooked up an eminent viewing for DYDINIE latest release titled “Donnie’s Way”. Personable right out the gate flowing over the Madlib production, we get DYDINIE life story and more in the vibrant release with him spilling his soul out on the concrete floor to watch his flowers begin to bloom. From past relationships to doubt about his career move, there’s a lot to unwind in this release, and I can tell he has a lot of heart. It’s shown within seconds of him rapping, a storyteller with meaning and a dreamer who believes this music shit is his purpose. I appreciate artists like DYDINIE, who doesn’t fold under pressure but instead uses it as a gateway to get you more in-depth into his artistic ability. We will keep him on our radar moving forward. Something tells me he’s got a lot more like this release to follow, and I definitely want to hear his story continue.
D’Shaun - S’mores & Rumchata (Single)
Without wasting any time in the new year, D’Shaun released his first single titled “S’mores & Rumchata” within the first week; that dropped simultaneously with the visual treatment to the suave record that has D’Shaun speaking to a love interest and highlighting the affectious fever she has for him. Take the day off; you're already feeling him, so why not continue with the good thing? He’s already pinpointing the things your exes wouldn’t do and giving you more reason to have the night ended in his company. A poet with words and a vivid lyricist, before the viewing, D’Shaun got you seeing this love story come to life, and even with the video, it just makes those details feel flawless and on point. The single is incredible from beginning to end and is already getting D’Shaun prepped and prepared for the year, which looks like it is coming in a project. If you enjoyed this release, I’m sure you don’t want to miss his upcoming release party, where more music like this is sure to follow.
Triyona - Deep State (Video)
In her first release of 2024, Triyona goes into a “Deep State” of clarity to see how far she’s come and what more lies in store for her. Reminsing on her older self would be handling things and what outcomes came from them. Dealing with talks of doubt from family and friends, she was glad to have listened to her heart and followed what was right to make her dreams come true. She’s back to dishing out these rhythmic ballads where her harmonious vocals light up the production and keep you in your feels as you listen to her tale unravel. She walks around her neighborhood and AT&T Stadium, thinking how much she’s overcome to stand firm in everything coming her way. No more time is needed to dwell in the past when her future looks bright; Triyona will continue to bring balance to her art and showcase more of herself in the music.
FMG Knotts - Sliding Door (Video)
Performing his new record, “Sliding Doors,” courtesy of San Antonio foos Mic Drop series, FMG Knotts is back in the cut, lighting up the walkway in flames to the winner’s circle, back in clutch mode he’s prepping his opposition to be prepared because his reign is here to stay, then so that means the fake shit around y’all is deceased. FMG Knotts is on menace time with the lyrics connecting shots straight to your equilibrium with how much power he brings to the raps. Double cup in his presence with his aroma smelling loud, he never forgets to appreciate the paper chase and the bills he is stacking in the mix. Miiketookit is behind the lens for the visuals to see Knotts in his prime like Optimus, with anticipation starting to grow to notice what is next from The Fastest emcee, especially with his headlining spot at the Hotbox 3 next week in the city on the horizon.
Kevin McGee feat Eastside Fish - Mandalay Bay (Video)
How do you start the new year the right way? You got one of your fan-favorite records shot by Sol Cinematic and let the views stack up. This is precisely what Kevin McGee did after having an impressive 2023; he doubled down on the success by having his Eastside Fish-featured record “Mandalay Bay” receive the visual treatment with a fantastic array of feedback & support from fans and new viewership. Catch the duo at the 50-yard line or at the touchdown post, wherever it is, and know that there’re in the game while y'all are in the stands. Back to back, they go trading skillful verses, with points scoring like they won the Super Bowl. They have larger-than-life presences with the world in their hands, the rap version of Troy Aikman & Michael Irving in the flesh for this visual.
Wynne feat Chris Patrick - Wife (Video)
After the long anticipation to see the subsequent visual treatment off Wynne’s critically acclaimed EP “Some Like It Hot” dropped, it came with an announcement earlier in the week that the fan-favorite track “Wife” with Chris Patrick would be releasing via Worldstarhiphop. As soon as it surfaced, fans raced to WSHH YouTube to turn up the views to 23K and counting within 24 hours on the sultry jam that has Wynne bringing to life the titillating record in all its glory, perfecting the descriptive record to the T in the viewing. After the week they had, and the time they spent in bed with the intimacy at a high, it’s no wonder he’s looking to pick her down and commit himself to making her a wife. I love the transition going over into Chris Patrick’s verse explaining his side of the discussion, already adding the cherry to the top and concluding it on a high note. It was a release she was excited to see happen finally, and it’s great to welcome in a new year with some new Wynne to enjoy. I believe this is just the start, especially with that teaser at the end, which sounds like an upcoming release with Earthgang, maybe next.
