The Weekly Dip 7/15/22

As we type this, the keys on the board are currently melting, that’s how sweltering this week has been, it’s literally creeping indoors & we ain’t just talking about the weather either, we’re talking about the slew of scalding releases sending heat waves all throughout your residences. We’re not even sure we can call this a Weekly Dip, at this point, these waters are at a boiling point, dive in at your own risk! Of course, that’s an over exaggeration but you get it, it’s overwhelming the amount of heat in this week’s annual dip but maybe throw some ice into the pool for safety measures.

Izzy93 - No Hook Pt. 2 (Video)

Almost a year since part one of his "No Hook" video was released, Izzy93 is back with part 2 for his viewership by linking back with Retro Moy, who's behind the lens to showcase how far Izzy's success has expanded since he's been out doing numbers on drops and expeditiously becoming the front runner in the rap music scene. Getting shit jumping on this Beat by Yayo production, Izzy doesn't need to lay down any hooks to show off his pedigree; rhyming with the insane ability that he's known for, he's showing you why he's a force not be reckoned with and why he's shadowing over the competition in the city. The Indian Creek lyrical bandit is flying over the San Antonio sky with fans that love to see him in the position he's currently in. - Frank WVZ

Luna Lloyd - Jealous (Single)

Instagram adverting is coming in clutch today since it introduced me to songstress Luna Lloyd by way of her latest single titled "Jealous." Luna sings beautifully throughout this heartfelt ballad with her not needing to be jealous as she moves on from someone who treated her so heinous. Winning her back ain't going to be easy, so don't think you can win by batting eyes her way. She's just laid back singing on how foolish you're making yourself look, you hurt her, and now you're getting your just deserts. I love howLuna's vocals are so angelic throughout the release, and it matches the cadence of the visual that dropped simultaneously. It has flaunting around scenes with the sure sign of happiness over the misery she knows you are facing. It's giving the purple devil emojis vibe for sure. Luna stated that a new EP from her will be surfacing later in the month. - Frank WVZ

Yung Bambi - B707 (Video)

After the year running hot with releases, Bambi continues to flourish right now with another visual drop at the top of the week titled “B707”. The Duvin-produced hit has Bambi roaming recklessly in this big ass house with his flow scorching flames while the scenery around him is shifting into these trippy color schemes curated by Steven Jets, who’s behind the lens. Bambi is a prominent example when it comes to hard-working; he’s making these records spark attention right out the gate since he has a style to be mysterious yet charismatic and the ability to be all over the track, making it his own entity. During his recent performance at Hell In The Cell Vol. 1, he shot the video for Swag Walk, so expect that to surface soon. It's only up from here with Bambi, who's on his way to making this year another successful one in his growing catalog. - Frank WVZ

That Mexican OT & Coldblooded Tyrell - NBA (Video)

We heard that Mexican OT & Coldblooded Tyrell was dropping a video to their collaborative single “NBA” later in the afternoon. Sure enough, the video surfaced with many fans immediately expressing praise & support down our timeline for the Shark The Shoota-directed video, which is already seeing substantial views within hours of being out. The diamonds in his grills are shining bright in this release as That Mexican OT applies pressure over the TB Robby production right out the gate, showing his comical charisma matched with his velocity to be a conquer with the flow. ColdBloodedRell follows suit to give the record its flavor of being zestful and menacing that will make its mark during the weekend to succeed in seeing more views come it's way.

Dezzy Hollow - No Percent (feat. Suga Free) (Video)

“One Nation Under The Funk” is the album you need in your life right now. It’s pretty self explanatory. Anybody in need of satiating a craving that, I didn’t even know I had, should tap in with this Oceanside native, he’s been putting in work for over a decade & if you love this album, you gotta go back & delve into the rest of his catalog, gems after gems I tell you! Of course though, you can’t have G-Funk slapping like this & not have Suga Free the Pimp applying the open palm. It’s nice seeing the OG out & about more, not missing a single step in his hilarious pimpology he waxes so eloquently. He’s also just so animated, like this pimpin’ shit ain’t nothing to him cause it isn’t. Dezzy Hollow just got that voice, it’s infectious as ever as he spits his own game over the groovy little number. That peanut butter sammich line, it’s either macaroni or matrimony, Suga Free remains witty as ever & the two of them going back & forth on the final verse is just the cherry on top to this synergetic record!

Grafh x DJ Shay - Chosen (Video)

First off, rest easy to the late great DJ Shay. It’s beautiful seeing his work continue to live on & better yet, have the proper justice done to it. Not just anybody has the skills required to sound as daunting as these haunting soundscapes, Grafh sounds like he’s lurking under the shadows. As Conway says, shit getting real spooky. Grafh is criminally underrated in my opinion, he’s beyond seasoned in this game & just keeps getting better with every release, from “Autografh” all the way up to this latest “Stop Calling Art Content” & I have to agree, there’s still a place for bars in this game, there’s still a void to be filled for grimy shit like this & there will always be a demand for it. “Jesus was busy, I had to give Satan the wheel” is the perfect way to describe the contrasts from day to night in this video, as well as those juxtapositions he’s drawing between the God in him & the demons that at times, overtake him, possibly cause him to write such gritty bars & then shot in London, the whole setting ever so eloquent but walking about are some people you wouldn’t wanna mess with, shit can get spooky real quick. You shoulda been ran at that first, subtle little “boo” at the beginning of this record!

Pouya & South Strip - KOTA (Video)

Don’t you just love how universal Hip Hop has become since it’s inception? There are just so many groups & MC’s to choose from, it overwhelms me at times whenever I discover something new. Of course, I’m sure we’ve all at least heard of Pouya, another criminally underrated artist in my opinion, just go through his catalog thus far, plenty of great shit to choose from & still he supplies us with more. His presence on a track & unforgettable appearance is just felt. South Strip hail from out of South Florida & I gotta say, I’m upset that I wasn’t aware of how notorious these guys are for going this fucking hard on their records. I mean, from the production, which this alone is speaker shattering to the masterclasses they teaching throughout their bars is just out of this world. It’s just so exciting to hear that hunger & to know they’ve been famished for a while now & those growls are only getting fiercer by the lyric! Then Pouya comes through to brush this beat off like it’s nothing, he’s so nonchalant in his braggadocio, it’s one of my favorite qualities about him!

Prodigy - You Will See (feat. Berto Rich) (Video)

Rest in Power to the late, great Prodigy, one half of the legendary Mobb Deep. As stated in a recent post, his family held on to a lot of the music P had been working on before his untimely death, waiting to have the proper base to release it out to the world. Well it seems that time has come with the release of the 1st of many with the poignant “You Will See”, a very heartfelt number that showcases just how emotional & personal this process was & still is. Taken from “The Hegelian Dialectic: The Book of Heroine”, we take this moment in time to celebrate the life & legacy of this impeccable human being, who was gracious enough to share his energy & intellect with us for as long as he did. Energy never dies, it transfers & that it does once you hit play on these visuals & see P in all of his glory, doing what he did best. Exciting to see what other classics P had in the works for us! God Bless Prodigy!

Redman - So Cool

Redman has always been cool hasn’t he? Call him Doc, Funk Doc, Funk Doctor Spock or simply Reggie, the man hasn’t missed a step ever in his career. It’s so beautiful to see that this man has not aged one bit, that he’s still healthy as ever & still dropping some of the best music in his 30 year career & still sounding fresh as ever. Erick Sermon too on the production, Hip Hop heads are about to be losing their shit to this one! Red is just straight talking his shit on this record, boss talk but still got that wit we love him for within it. He’s just levels above most, even this late in this career, how could he still sound this crisp? Exciting to see his first album since 2015’s “Mudface” slowly coming together!

Culture Pushaz Collective - Coach Put Me In

Ayo coach, put this record in the next 2K game at the very least. If you haven’t heard of the Culture Pushaz Collective then you’ve been living under a rock, I hate to say it but fret not, just click play on their follow up to last year’s bar heavy compilation. You wanna talk about bridging the gap between old & new then look no further cause this collective not only consists of those established but those up & coming as well, you love to see it! Led by none other than Tek of Smif N Wessun & Flash, who if you don’t know was formerly of SRC & Ruff Ryders, this collective is mostly NYC based, though they have many affiliates from different walks of life, some names that you’ll recognize, as well as names you definitely should get aquatinted with. This latest record finds Tek, Flash & up & comer Big Yount absolutely shooting nothing but nets with their bars. This next compilation about to blow the 1st out the water if we’re leading with this!

Jayye Michael - Never Be

It’s not everyday a literal new artist surprises me like this, like, I’m literally in love with this song. There’s no way it can be his very first single ever but it is & I am so here for it! I’ve been on nothing but R&B lately so this is so welcomed! Easily one of the best breakup songs I’ve ever heard. I really don’t understand how people can cheat, it’s one of the cruelest things you can do to someone. Love is supposed to be about trust, if you wanna be indulging in your infidelities then maybe don’t lead people on. It’s funny how sometimes, once you realize like your worth like he has, they wanna come crawling, begging for you to take them back. It’s strange how, when you want them, they don’t want you but then when you don’t, they do. But as much as it hurts him to admit, they could never be. Getting to this stage of acceptance is tough, I could attest to this personally so I very much appreciate this being my new anthem for finally getting to this stage in my romantic life! Excited to see where Jayye take his music cause if he’s starting like this, then I can only imagine what’s to follow. Beautiful music!
