The Weekly Dip 5/13/22

Uh oh, you know what today is don’t you? The Boogieman showed his face last night & I know all of us are still in complete awe over it but while he’s not looking, we’d like to invite you over to take a quick little kersplash with us, there’s been a lot of beautiful music throughout the week that also deserves your undivided attention so shall we?

Krystall Poppin featuring Big Jade - 32 Flavors (Single)

Earlier in the week, Krystall Poppin teased that a new mixtape from her & Big Jade titled “32 Flavors” would be slated to drop sometime in June. In the meantime, they would be dropping the first single titled after the project’s name this Friday that would accompany a visual to spice up the release. Krystall showed so many previews of the upcoming video sporting out an orange bikini with daisy dukes & another shot wearing a pink tank bodysuit stating that the video would drop at midnight on Friday The 13th. While the world sat back and listened to Kendrick’s new album, many fans still made time to check out KP’s single, which to no surprise, still got a bevy of views on the DangFilms-directed video in only a few hours that will undoubtedly continue to skyrocket throughout the weekend. Flipping Diamond from Crime Mobb’s verse to the chorus was a flavory treat to gulp down when taking a bit of this delicious release. Body looking crazy while the flows are doing the same, both these raptresses run laps around the production while showcasing their pure talent to be flawless when it comes to the raps while being star-studded beauties in the process. Video is an eye-catcher for sure, and guarantee will be in the 5K mark in views by Saturday afternoon, show it much love and keep those eyes peeled for a release date on their upcoming mixtape. - Frank Campos

Wynne - Nature Heals (Single)

On Monday, Portland femcee Wynne announced that new music from her would-be released later in the week. Many fans like myself waited patiently to hear a new record since her “Mary’s Lambo” erupted in the hip-hop world. At last, in surprising fashion, both the audio & visual to her newly released joint titled “Nature Heals” surface with many new & existing fans showing tremendous support for the prestigious record. Wynne delivered an arsenal of impeccable bars with her signature nonchalant demeanor; it’s pressed with immaculate wit while serving the most congenial flow out right now. Through every channel where you can hear hip-hop chatter, opinions, thought-pieces, and more, they were all flooded with talks about Wynne’s newest track, comparing her to the likes of Cole & Drake. While we’ve always thought of Wynne to be in a league of her own, it was nice seeing the comparison, especially if they might be a bit unorthodox; it still doesn’t shy away from the fact that fans from all over are starting to speak on Wynne. I’m not one to be on Tik Tok often, but I did see the single being picked up as a trending sound; it looks like more ears and ears will be faced in her direction moving forward, which we love to see. Salute to you on this latest victory, Wynne. - Frank Campos

Nychelle feat Rick Hyde - Big Dog (Single)

Dallas raptress Nychelle recently linked with BSF’s own Rick Hyde on her latest single titled “Big Dog,” where both emcees are heard riding over this Slick Amvdeus beat in a crisp & cunning style that showcases their ability in a deep admiration to keep the flow feeling conscious & witty. The record is pressed together nicely with Nychelle’s sensual vocals & her boastful attitude to be pristine in the cut while dropping some of the hottest lines on wax while showing out in the video looking luxurious as always. If her looks could kill, she is wanted for double homicide; her flow is just as deadly so imagine the killings she does on the daily. Rick Hyde anchors the record with aggression, speaking on how violent his wordsmith ability is while conversating about the dead presidents and the shorties that come his way; Rick is immaculate with the words from start to finish; this is an easy day for the prestigious lyricist. An excellent record to go along with flourished visual, another hit on Nychelle hands got her feeling incredible at the end of the day. - Frank Campos

Elder featuring Worldwide, SoCANDY, SoSanAntone, Stiff Barbie & Lol Yodaa - To The Money (Remix) (Video)

Back in April, producer Elder enlisted a powerhouse collection for the remix to his single “To The Money” by having Worldwide, SoSanAntone, Lil Yodaa, SoCANDY & Stiff Barbie all on the same record stopping out impeccable verses down the line like a cipher and showcasing why they're some of the toughest lyricists in the rap game. Fast forward a month later, and we get to see this colossal collaboration come to life as the visual to the record surface earlier in the week. It shows each artist in their own element, devising their verse in a raw & passionate light that goes a long way to see the pressure they apply right before our eyes. Of course, being a pristine release, the video’s directorial eye is done by TeoShotThis. He makes sure to give each artist their moment to shine while providing a great aesthetic to the rest of the visual. From Worldwide’s wit to be a lyrical conquer while SoCANDY rocks out in a bikini, dishing out hotlines to keep her feeling breezy. SoSanAntone gets the place jumping with his prominent charisma building up his flow. Stiff Barbie lays down a slow-toned verse like her words are dipped in promethazine, all while Lil Yodaa anchors the record and puts what’s left of the beat in a body bag, and wraps up nicely for the coroner to wheel out. - Frank Campos

Ominous The Monster - Man In Here (Video)

Being introduced to the lyrical fueled creation of Ominous The Monster by Sol Cinematic, it’s only fitting that he would let me preview a snippet of the upcoming video to Ominous single “Man In Here” off his recent project “Shelly.” With the previews seen, I could only imagine what the finished product would surface. When it was finally released in its all glory at the top of the week, it was like seeing a full-length movie constructed in a manner that showcases determination & perseverance in the few moments we had with it. Ominous is shown in battle mode as he trains his mind, body & power to conquer whatever comes his way. We deal with many emotions daily; not knowing what the world has to offer today, we need to be ready for whatever comes our way and fight through it to see another. The aggression from Ominous is to get knocked out or be broken; he’s not going to deal with either one happening to him, so it’s best to back off him. He doesn’t let go of the pressure throughout this victory anthem as he knows reign supreme in any ring he’s put in and watch his opponent claw their way out when dealing with his monstrous wrath. - Frank Campos

Danger Mouse & Black Thought - No Gold Teeth (Video)

How can anybody fix their lip to complain about the state of Hip Hop when we still got brilliant minds like Tariq waxing this eloquently, this late in their career. Not only that, but this collaboration in general came right out of left field & only further adds to Dangermouse’s versatility. Danger brings out some of Thought’s most ear provoking rhymes yet, I mean the way his lyrics just slices through the beat is like no other, he’s not concerned about necessarily being on the beat, something I’ve seen a lot of people complain about with superior MC’s as such but he’s just cut from that different cloth baby, it’s not his fault y’all still haven’t caught up with him, after all these years of him doing it incessantly. The visuals themselves are a bit avant-garde, which fits beautifully with the abstract work of art his delivery is. August 12th couldn’t get here any sooner & you bet your ass we hit pre-order for “Cheat Codes” immediately.

Chuuwee & Money Montage - Cup Of Red (feat. $teven Cannon) (Video)

I’ve grown such a strong affinity for the subtle banger, you know that monotone, nonchalantly delivered flows from some of the most underrated assassins we got in this game, Chuuwee one of those dudes. A lot of people like to talk like they actually got “it” but a lot of these folks are cowards & Chuuwee ain’t about to let them get off scot free. His hook alone, I just love when a hook is as wordy as this but it still flows so naturally & then he just casually slips into one of his most snarling verses yet, he’s aggressive but ain’t in your face about it, he’s more so like, I dare you to come fuck around & find out. People can sure talk a whole bunch but it’s not like they’d ever say it to his face so he teases them about it with this song as a whole. $teven Cannon as well adds some much needed extra energy with his verse, making this one of the sickest red cup fillers ever spilled over wax.

ChaseTheMoney - Trident (feat. Valee) (Video)

When has Valee ever disappointed? Especially whenever he’s linked with Chase, they always make magic together but I didn’t think I’d ever love a song by them more than “On Tha Way”, that’s my personal favorite but “Trident” is just so re-refreshing & I know I’m a bit late to this but its too good to not report on. Valee is responsible for a lot of the flows you repetitively hear artists try to use but never fail to fall short of doing it the way the originator does it. His whispery, raspy, nonchalant delivery, coupled with the fact that the dude is, almost like a shadow, there’s just nothing quite like it in Hip Hop. His wit remains at an elite level, every last line can be a quotable & I love that! A lot of people wouldn’t dare consider him a lyricist solely cause of his style & cause, he’s not quite mumbling but these idiots would sure reduce his sound to that but he’s spitting spitting, he’s an MC through & through. The visuals themselves too are as mind boggling as the rhymes themselves & hopefully we continue to see more of Valee lurking out the dark from time to time to gift us with these intriguing pieces of art!

Millyz - Rearview Mirror (feat. Jadakiss) (Video)

These two have given us so many bangers throughout the years, “Gov’t Cheese”, “Back to the Money”, “Let It Go”, “The Plug (Remix)”, “Hopeless” & now “Rearview Mirror” & I gotta admit to you gentlemen, this record right here blows all of those tracks out the water & those are all great records, let this one not take away from them but man, these guys just get better with time. With the fifth installment to his Blanco series, Millyz did the right thing in grabbing Jadakiss again, it’s honestly to the point where it’s not a Millyz project without the LOX legend involved in some sort of capacity. Top tier lyricism & real life music presented by two brothers who’ve experienced a whole lot in their lives & only seek to share that wisdom with all of us in the dopest, most crispest way possible. Millyz is criminally underrated but those who know, oh they know!

Vitorio - Times Square Flows (feat. The Musalini) (Video)

Don’t you just love seeing such camaraderie in the culture, you don’t get it too often, artists who frequently collaborate cause the chemistry is clearly there to stay, pardon the slight alliteration but I believe the last record we covered from them was “Mo’ Better Blues”, which is a classic, go back & peep that but they’re back with their 2nd collab & boy does it top it’s predecessor. Whereas that track was a much more smooth & soulful record, this record ups the ante on it, just a bit, much more celebratory feel as these two MC’s get their impeccable flows off. This that luxury talk these gentleman are speaking but they do it in such a poetic way. Love seeing this relationship continue to blossom between these brothers & hopefully they have much more music on the way, an album even but we’re thankful for Mus for putting us onto Vitorio, make sure y’all peep his latest “TEXTURED SETTINGS NYC”, you won’t regret it!

CyHi - Tears (feat. Jaquees)

I for one cannot be more enthralled by the fact that CyHi is also returning to the scene, it’s been a good while since his classic “No Dope on Sundays” & after how powerful this 1st offering is, I got a strong feeling his upcoming follow up opus “The Story of EGOT” may become his new magnum after some given time. I admire his rollout for this so far & the fact that this first single is as long as it is, it’s damn near 7 minutes & it doesn’t require it, no no no, it demands your undivided attention cause CyHi gets real introspective on this one. He sheds tears over this record as he grieves those lost, whether to them doing time, some life sentences at that or death, as he mourns his cousin as well. That line hit home from me due to my own addiction struggles, it’s sad that not everybody makes it out of that. The entire record is some of the most powerfully therapeutic music you’ll hear all year & Jaquees only further adds to the fervor of this tearjerking ballad of a first single, until we get “EGOT the EP” on the 20th, 4 new records from this brilliant mind!

Rick Hyde - Poza (feat. Rome Streetz)

All these GRISELDA associates/Black Soprano Family members can all spit, I swear, once they emerged, all these other great MC’s who do that gritty style started to emerge as well. Over another classic Alchemist beat, subtly haunting as the two are ever so daunting in their threatening tales of the life they’ve had to experience. A lot of cats love to brag like they actually did the things that these brothers actually did but it’s not that difficult to distinguish between the real & the fake cause the real don’t exhibit cowardice of any sort, not to say they’re incapable of showing emotion but they don’t fold at the first sign of danger like a lot of these cats would. They will gladly take these little bastard kids through a tour of a true Scared Straight program & unlike that show, they will actually whoop them, forcing them to never front like they got what it takes to even live in the same area as these two.

Phxbia - War Wounds/Up All Night

Phxbia is back with two new singles to follow up their predecessors & they further show his versatility as an artist. Incorporating auto tune this time around, Phxbia aims to blow his “Flame Freestyle” out the water by showing off his “War Wounds”. It’s been a battle within himself that he’s clearly been winning at to still be standing as tall as he is. He’s not familiar with the lavish lifestyle, all he’s ever known is pain so you know damn well once he attains all the deliciously ripe fruits of his hard labor, he’s gonna run wild with it, deservingly so cause he ain’t never had shit so why wouldn’t he? As cruel as the world can be though, Phxbia still takes time to calm down the raw emotion to show us a more sensitive side to him on the soothing “Up All Night”, another slow burning ballad, like melting wax over skin. Expressing his yearning of her love, he woos his soulmate into submission for a lifetime of eternal bliss. It’s beautiful that he’s the one admitting that she’s the one making him swoon, that’s real love when just the presence of that person, something as slight as a touch can send chills down your spine. This is definitely gonna be blaring during the wedding, I don’t doubt it!
