The Weekly Dip 4/22/22

It’s been another exciting week for us over here at Wavez, lots of big wavy tingz going on but as always, we make sure to give y’all a taste of what we’ve been rocking our boats with this week & let me tell you, today’s installments are bringing that heat! There’s no rain slated to hit today either so you already know it’s about to be a drought! Thankfully we got some bodies of water to replenish yourselves with.

Armani Caesar - Ginger Rothstein (Video)

Gearing up to release her anticipated follow-up, “The Liz 2”, Armani Caesar has been dropping visuals from her first project to showcase the exquisite sounds you can come to expect in her Griselda sophomore release. Her latest visual titled “Ginger Rothstein” has her posted in the driver seat in the Maybach looking gorgeous in the cut while donning a one-piece in a gown and delivering some vicious raps for you suckas. Diamonds off her neck & wrist got her feeling cold, so why not bundle up with a hot 16 while she’s telling the tale of the fabled role of Sharon Stone. She’s also speaking on her appeal and why she’s the most desirable in the game. Armani got many heads turning when she dropping videos and singles, so expect necks to break when “The Liz 2” comes out. As always, we wish the First Lady of Griselda to shine bright and welcome more success to come her way in these upcoming weeks.

Hellcat! - Pink Leather Cut (Video)

Back in March, Hellcat! had dropped a new single titled “Pink Leather Cut,” which was on a different wave than her previous joint yet showcased her ability to go outside of her element and still possess a witty rhythm to conquer. It’s a balance of tranquility, so when you enjoy it during a listening experience, you’re just vibing. Still, she decided to give y’all the best of both worlds, as earlier in the month; she dropped the visual to the single that’s breaking away a whole new feeling. You can see the abstract nature of her vision coming to life and seeing it through the lens that she does vividly. I like her artistic direction more and more, and I’m sure she will be showing a lot more expression in her upcoming project. She’s someone who goes beyond the grain to paint the picture of wonderment with her music, and it’s something surely the world will see more of.

Monk Vision Entertainment (MVE) - Verde (Video)

The long-awaited video to MVE’s fan-favorite record “Verde” is finally out after having a brief hiccup on the release. Nonetheless, I’m glad to be featuring it on the weekly dip today to see how the group is leading the kitchen with their staff to cook up a nice zesty meal & serve it nicely to the viewer’s appetite. Just as you think, this video goes over with the zealous presence put on by the Houston collective with zany and comedic timing that sets it off to be one of the best and most fun releases of the month. Make sure to add some much-needed salsa and festive helpings when witnessing this video come to life, and as always tune in to Monk Radio to see what more they have in store for their fans. Slide

Jmac The Dragon - Enter The Dragon (Single)

JMAC makes the competition look Like Kung Pow compared to him. He’s meticulous about every play, just as a martial artist would so every blow hits that much harder. A lot of people claim that Hip Hop, who’s content is strictly about how great they rap has no place but I beg to differ. People only hurdle things like that at people like him cause they get typecast but JMAC ain’t phased by them cause they won’t dare wake the dragon in him. He’s still in his cave rhyming this, causing little rumbles from underneath the surface, just to let those dwelling above know that, the Dragon is soon to come out of hibernation. I would hate to be the sad sack who accidentally fell into his little hidey hole looking for something they need like this is Lord of the Rings or some shit but nothing fictional about this beast.

WESTSIDE BOOGIE - AIGHT (feat. Shelley FKA DRAM) (Single)

Boogie is one of the freshest additions to the Shady Records family. For years, people have complained this label is weak in certain areas so they went ahead & filled one of those voids with Boogie. Em said it himself, Boogie got melodies for days & his swagger is just impenetrable. Boogie is just taking you on a journey through his psyche, the shit he has to put up with but isn’t really all too important in the grand scheme of things. Right now, even though life has been whooping his ass, he’s still on his bullshit, ignorant as ever on this subtly ominous banger. He taps DRAM to add those whispery melodies, a collab I’ve been wanting for a while now & works masterfully. Let’s hope that this is the 1st indicator of his sophomore effort under Shady cause it’s a nice little tease of what’s to come!

Joey Cool - My Boy (Single)

Strange Music stays Swanky with Sinatra around. Joey Cool has those jazz influences scattered throughout his music & it’s a beautiful genre mesh. Over a subtle trap beat with those airy jazz elements within it, Joey follows the wise words of Frankie & vows to use his skill set to skyrocket himself into superstardom & that he has. Underrated as he may be, Joey doesn’t use this as an excuse to not be as consistent as he is. I mean, we’re not too far apart from his last release under the label & it seems that we’re getting hit with another album very soon. Joey has that modernist swagger to him but he’s a beast lyrically & subtle numbers like this one really showcase his technical abilities. You can always count on Strange Music to stick to their core base, occasionally venturing off into other genres but ultimately keeping it Hip Hop at the end of the day.

Ab-Soul - Hollandaise (Single)

I’ve never actually tried Hollandaise but now that I have, it is an acquired taste, not everybody can stomach it whenever Ab-Soul has something to spread to the masses. This TDE resurgence of its originators is exciting to see. Schoolboy dropped, Kendrick announced his upcoming album, Jay Rock teasing new music & now we get hit with some new Ab-Soul so all those complaints people had about the label being too silent can ironically be put to rest, this music is about to speak for itself. This is classic Ab-Soul, reminding listeners of all he’s done to this point, he hasn’t lost a step & is more famished than ever. Same song, new beat, cause great writers can always find different ways to reiterate things they’ve already said & in some cases, like this, really beat their predecessors. We’re not sure if this means he too has an album coming but this single is dope enough to hold our tummies over til then.

Reek, Sage, Eastside Fish - Bounce (Video)

Timelessness in a timely manner as always with The Tree Team. Still not even that far apart from the first Three-Peat, the trio hits us with Another Three-Peat. Of course we also get the visuals to the lead single out the 3 “Bounce”, which in my opinion, totally dominates the other 2 records on the EP, not that they are faulty by any means, still easy listening but they aren’t as lively as this one. These brothers sure know how to celebrate 4/20 the right way & if you weren’t at their little shindig that day, it’s cool cause you can still sit back & enjoy what they have to offer. A hit like this deserves visuals as such, simplistic yet intriguing as ever. Both Reek & Fish coaching their separate teams, taking intervals in between to admire the twerk they’re putting into this game, it’s impossible not to break a sweat to this one. The trio really outdid themselves yet again with another timeless hit to add to their illustrious list of them. Fish continues to steal the show though for me personally so sorry Reek, my money is on the blue team. Speaking of colors, don’t you just love the purple tint throughout the video, how can you not believe in the tree with subtle details like that.

Sigdatrig - B.I.O. (Video)

Hip Hop is here to stay, no matter how dead people love to claim it is, they said the same shit 40 plus years ago yet here we are. The architects of this culture are still alive & well, passing down those feels through their lineage. Here we have MC Shan’s little cousin absolutely rapping her ass off whilst doing justice to her modernist rendition of the classic “The Bridge Is Over” & it’s no surprise that Big Daddy Kane himself co-signed this record. It’s beautiful to see the architects, the OG’s spread that love to the newer generation, but also to see that the younger generation is aware of who paved the way for them & not just cause the close connection that clearly rubbed off on them either. Hopefully this means we’ll be seeing more of Sig & more of her pulling the trig on this classic Hip Hop flips!
