The Weekly Dip 4/15/22

Don’t y’all just love when we do these, it’s basically tradition at this point. We have a lot of music that comes our way & fortunately we’ve found other ways to showcase these artists, so shall we indulge in today’s waters? I’m sure these splashes will cool off a bit of that humidity.

Chenelle McCoy - Automatic (Single)

Another great introduction due to Instagram advertising happened yesterday when I came across a visual by Oakland-based artist Chenelle McCoy titled “Control,” where her soulful harmonic presence blessed my eyes & ears in the evening, which would instantly make me a new fan of hers. Through my listening experience of her dynamic sound, I found out that particular video had dropped back last year in September. Since then, she has been dropping gems like her stone-cold releases, “That Chick” & “God Talk,” with her most recent single titled “Automatic” being the freshest one of the three, which gave me the perfect opportunity to have our viewership gathered in and hear a majestic voice strut her greatness on the page today.

Triyona - Too Far Gone (Video)

It had been about three months since we last saw a new release from Triyona, which she kept updates on her Instagram that she was gearing up to drop another video soon. It wasn’t long after that we would see previews of an upcoming video from her titled “Too Far Gone.” Many fans like ourselves waited patiently for the finished product to the surface, which came earlier this week, and have since seen views and praise cements its rollout. Triyona can be seen around a winter climate with fresh-powered snow in one scene and a clear open field in the next. It could describe the hot & cold situation she’s dealing with, where she’s moved on from someone who treated her unworthy and wants her back. She wants to move on, but she lingers on to the feeling of wanting to be intimate with someone special but knows it’s for the best to find someone who will genuinely treat her the way she deserves. It’s another excellent ballad on her growing catalog and an exciting tune to see more people gravitate to during their viewing experience.

Free Hamze - El Dorado (Video)

Fresh off his March-released album “Green Alchemy,” Free Hamze is delivering the visual treatment to one of his records off the album and fan-favorite single, “El Dorado.” Mixed with his signature hoarse vocals and electric-wave production, Free Hamze showcases a lucid release with this video that has him posted out in the desert wasteland, speaking on the potency of his lifestyle. It’s a great look into the mind of Free Hamze, and seeing how tranquil his verses come alive in this drop will have you go back to endure his album in a new vivid experience. Make sure this is playing in rotation for your weekend, and expect to trip out like your, inducing visual psychedelics.

Bianca B-Lo - Sad Girl Freestyle (Single)

Since the success of her “Turning Heads” single, Bianca B-Lo has made her presence known through countless show performances, her creative visuals & of course, her easy-going personality on social media. She had been on a brief hiatus from dropping new music, which is always a sign that we see artists going through personal growth & life’s unexpected cycles. She’s someone we’ve seen wear their heart on their sleeves in their daily intake on social media, so we know she’s been gearing up for new music and dealing with life in the process. We knew music would surface once she got a break from it all, and I’m glad to announce that a new record from her appeared at the end of March titled “Sad Girl Freestyle.” The weeping melody has her not wanting to shed anymore tears, but she still will since loneliness has taken over her sorrow. While the days seem blue, like the hue in her cover art, it doesn’t mean it all has to be gloomy. Still, there is some light and moments where she can see the cloud come apart and shed some ray of hope in them. I respect & cherish her venting process in this record as I am someone who’s been in a similar situation. I can tell her that days will get better as you go, happiness is not entirely gone, and you will find it again, hopefully, sooner than later. A powerful ballad and one that hits the soul on a different level, Bianca B-Lo is a gifted artist, and it’s shown here perfectly.

King Kash - Lonely (Single)

Shoutout King Iso for putting us technicians onto King Kash. If y’all got to see these two perform together, then you were one of the lucky ones, they’re basically twins & after hearing him kill it on Iso’s latest, it’s only right that he hit us with his first single of the year soon after. “Lonely” has a lot that people can resonate with. He’s one of the few who’s actually been on all this social distancing shit, people will really have you feeling antisocial of you put up with them for long enough. He’s one of the crispest spitters out right now, as evident in his technical displays on here. It’s almost an extension of “Today” from Iso’s album but although it contains a lot of similar themes, it stands on its own, as does he. Hopefully it’s the 1st indicator of an eventual follow up to his impeccable “God of the Dead” album.

Kevin McGee feat Bankreaux - Grind on Grind (Single)

When I went over to Kevin’s so he could play me the “Comeback Kev” project in it’s entirety, he had a surprise track in the mix that he wasn’t entirely sure what to do with, but it is finally seeing the light of day after all these months. It stands strong on its own but fits right in the mix as a bonus to the album, it has those same anthemic feels a lot of the records on the album have & to be honest with you, nobody is making anthems quite like he is. It’s just beautiful seeing two elites link for something so massive. Kev’s music has always been very suitable for the working man & it’s blatantly obvious here as he & Bank both got their noses to the grindstone, lyrically, musically & personally. Bank really steals the show with his concise flow & swaggering bravado, he always rhymes at a high level & his performance here is yet another reminder. I highly doubt this is the last we’ll hear of Kev this year, though he’s hit us with enough material that he could just coast off it, no problem but he’s too much of a workaholic for that.

ScribeCash - Link (Single)

Scribe has really been capitalizing off the momentum she’s garnered after the success of “Resume” & to be honest, I didn’t think she was gonna be able to hit us with yet another hit single but here we are, about to “Link” up with her yet again. She already rhymes at a high level, if you haven’t noticed by now but coupled with her expressing her sexuality more, I mean, is it me or is it fucking sweltering in here? The temperatures in the bedroom are definitely rising when you throw this on, it’s automatically sexing time. I’m certain this record might piss a lot of fuckboys off, not only cause she rapping better than most but because their resumes, she probably didn’t even get around to seeing them, they was crabs at the bottom of the barrel fortunately. I don’t know about them dudes who complain when women are this expressive about their sexuality but I personally admire her xxx-rated rhyming on this one, not to mention she gotta hella soul just soaring throughout her vocals but can easily switch it up to hardbody MCing.

Chino XL & Stu Bangas - Miracles Opposite (Single)

Hip Hop heads rejoice! Lyrical Jesus is back to save them all with his latest, produced by the menacing Stu Bangas, criminally underrated producer if you ask me! I’ve been so thrilled that one of my most major influences lyrically has been bursting back onto the scene & hasn’t lost a single fucking step, in fact, his bars are more brutal than they’ve ever been on this cut. This is what the YouTube reactors call “Headache Rap”, no wonder no reactions to it have been uploaded cause the amount of punchlines coming at you would not only crack even the thickest of skulls open but it would happen after he shatters his way out your computer screens. A lot of people love to act like lyricism is dead or that it doesn’t matter, that rap that’s about how good the MC is at it, is damn near a lost art at this point, which makes us getting hit with this all the more pleasurable. The man literally has death wishing it didn’t just have a Near Chino Experience, his wit is just impeccable on this one!

PHRESHER x NEMS - BYRON (Video)

PHRESHER in my opinion is criminally underrated, most people know him cause the Eminem feature but dude has been putting in work for a minute & has a healthy little catalog that he just added another monstrous single to & what’s crazy about this one is that it really showcases his skills on the mic, I mean you’d have to be rapping hardbody if you gonna call on Gorilla NEMS to come stomping through this jungle! This is the Mecca of Hip Hop right here, just two cats keeping that spirit alive through their hardcore lyricism. I never thought I’d hear PHRESHER going crazy on a verse like this, it may even be better than his “Chloraseptic (Remix)” verse. I dare you to be in the minority of people who claim PHRESHER fell off after his momentum, he didn’t, clearly he’s still flexing his versatility as an artist. BING BONG you little dusty motherfuckers!
