The Weekly Dip 11/5
We honestly don’t understand who would wanna be dipping into water at this given time but, it is tradition so follow us as we guide you through these artists who are shattering all that ice this week!
JMAC the Dragon - That’s Right
“That’s Right”, you thought JMAC the Dragon was done leveling up, then you better think again cause the man doesn’t stop, he has a lot to say & a lot more people need to be heeding it. He’s been out here putting in work, slaying rhyme after rhyme & yet, people still sleep but it’s ok cause once the dragon spits, let alone breathes, havoc shall be wreaked. Lyrically, he is so disgusting, don’t let Sway hear that line about him being raised by hyenas cause then he gonna throw him in the valley of them & we can only surmise what JMAC would do when faced with such a challenge.
Tia’ Gold & Willie - S2b
I think I just got my new “grateful to wake up to breathe another day” anthem cause Tia’ instantly comes through with the graciously gorgeous vibes! You ever find yourself stuck in the past, pining over things you wish could’ve been different, trying to right all your wrongs you made with the information you had at the time, it can be a self torturous cycle we find ourselves in at times but, I feel if we follow Tia’s advice, everything will be just fine. We must have faith that everything is panning out exactly how it’s supposed to, that this person we see in the mirror everyday, it’s who we’re supposed to be, we’re doing what we’re supposed to be doing, just have a little faith that the universe will always work in your favor, despite its many hurdles, that’s just life.
Jon Kobe - No Ghosts on the Beach
I’m gonna be completely honest with you, I had zero clue Jon Kobe released this EP but I do know that I rather enjoyed the single from here, “Paradise” so here we are now indulging. From rip, we get those Caribbean vibes with “Deeply, Completely” where we find him expressing his disdain with her for leaving him with such a deep emotional wound. Fool him once, shame on you & that’s the case here, he ain’t gonna keep falling for those games, the trust has dissipated on the poor “Fool”. Even the home recording feel of “Fancy Pants”, sounds like something right out the 70’s, you’ll literally be in “Paradise” upon hearing all these vibes & even that afterglow on “I Need Some Time” where we hear him at his most earnest, the EP is just good vibes all around & still sounds great despite the weather.
Apollo Black - Za Za Flow
If you know anything about Apollo Black, he always blowing on that Za Za & flowing so it was only a matter of time before those two came together on wax. I’ve literally witnessed him go on for hours on end, the man is a rapping machine so I wouldn’t be surprised if he just winged this & didn’t write a single line, just walked in the booth, sparked one up & got lost in his own sauce, as per usual. Apollo been putting in work for a very long time & still he’s only scratched the surface of what he’s capable of, with every release, we get deeper & deeper into his psyche.
Andria Rose - In the Abstract
With a new EP entitled “Telenovela”, which who doesn’t love those dramatic little shows, dropping later this month on the 19th, Andria Rose offers us the 1st dose of the subtle magic she’s been supplying us with musically for quite some time now, since “Blue” but now things are red, probably cause she’s in a different space mentally & as it appears, romantically. It’s a very simple little number but it only further expands on her musical style, it’s always been Lo-Fi but that’s perfect for her lulling vocals as it only makes the record all the more infectious as you get lost in her voice & that hook alone, will get you hooked & excited for what else she’s to display on this upcoming EP & then the chopped & screwed section at the end, just to pinpoint where she’s from.
Tiera Deniell feat LAUX & Aye Cue - Trip To Houston
Road trips are the best so let’s take one to Houston with these three impeccable artists & see where exactly it leads us. Apparently, there’s something about Houston that I wouldn’t have known otherwise, being that these three can’t seem to get enough of that city & its illustrious history, especially in terms of Hip Hop, which LAUX. solely dedicates her verse too, probably one of my favorites I’ve heard all year, just because she’s being informative & educating people on why Houston is as highly heralded as it is. Tiera Deniell vocals continue to soar & of course, the Greatest Player in the Game, Aye Cue stops by to spit that classy shit he’s known for & let me just say, the ladies are no doubt swooning for the man whenever he speaks, probably cause he does with such elegance everytime he opens his mouth to say something.
Vermin The Villain - I. Limbo
Lost in a world between heaven & hell lies Vermin The Villain’s latest single titled “Limbo” that sourced a haunting entrance into his upcoming anticipated project, “9 Circles”. His abrasive manner of spitting madness in a record is displayed with an equally equipped formidable production to catapult this track to the masses list of tracks to have in your playlist for the month. We haven’t seen Vermin on this level of treachery before, kind of like a split personality formed from rage and chaos being delivered into the world on a masked villain type of wave. I believe we’ll be seeing more on this shift beyond biblical proportion. Excited to see the mystery in his content continue to elevate and hope to see it surface more on the project.
AMON - areyoureallyhappy.
I was recently put on to San Diego native Amon through his April released visual titled “areyoureallyhappy.” I know I’m a bit behind on this drop by a few months, but I thought our viewers would love an introduction to a new artist no matter how far back it came out. I don’t usually do this, but because I was stupefied by how powerful this record is, I made the call to have it featured on the site today to help bring our unique viewership to check out an artist who I believe is a talented emcee who will go far in music. He points the metaphorical cannon to our dome in hopes we sit still and hear him spill out his emotion in a raw barrage of raps. Social media blankets on what success is but none of that fake shit matters to Amon, who’s on a journey to make it without selling his soul. He wears his heart out on his sleeve by barring down verses of complete consciousness to how far an artistic and intellectual mind like his will go beyond money, jewelry, and clout in this world. Hope is in the eye of the beholder, and I believe Amon is one of those artists that will flourish nicely in his craft. I can’t wait until the rest of the world sees it and cherish his gift.
