Grab a coat, keep a blanket and a companion by the side while you get warm by the poolside area and dip a toe or two into this great content we got for you this Friday.
WZDZD Feat Blackchyl & Dominican Jay - Playbook (Remix)
Recently WZDZD, formerly known as STAT1, had released a remastered version of his single titled “Playbook.” When I initially came across it, I enjoyed the track very much and started working on a post for it. The world works in mysterious ways because minutes later, I was provided a remix by the OG Dominican Jay via his Major Gains Ent page. He just happened to lay a few bars on the track alongside Blackchyl that made this over-the-top release a vicious cycle of raps that are slicing deep with lyrical precision. It’s a record that should and must be in your playlist for your weekend and moving forward, trust me.
Gawf feat Duvin - Madhouse
2021 we had not seen any new music from Gawf, probably because most of his time had been in & out of studios. He's also been traveling from what we've seen on his Instagram stories, including working on something else, which we'll leave at that on the hush for now. Despite all this hard work, Gawf never forgets his fans which is why he delivered his newest single titled "Madhouse" with Duvin on the production to ease us out of our somber lives in having a record of appealing to those feelings. Everything you love from a Gawf track can be found here, the infectious melody, the valiant tales of his come up, and of course, Duvin supplying heat for Gawf to pour out his heart to.
LAUX. - Casket Drop Freestyle
I couldn't wait for this freestyle to hit the site since it's been steady in rotation in the whip for days on hand. Last weekend, LAUX had dropped a new Denzel Stone-prouder banger titled "Casket Drop Freestyle" that is grimy to the T. Shit makes you want to beat up a shark or two, such grit and sass that can make a tiger turn into a zebra. LAUX flow is magma hot on this freestyle; like throughout it playing, I was making the same face that Timberland made when he made the "Dirt Off My Shoulder" beat. This track is too sick; you might have to put on a mask when listening to it but be sure if it's on your speakers, then it's at the highest volume.
MJ Apollo - Moon Dust
Days after releasing his Stone-produce visual “STARSEED,” Mj Apollo is back with a new single titled “Moon Dust” that is galaxy driven with the way he’s started hitting it out the park. The track is seismic, with the bass hitting while his vocals express the grind he’s currently on to make this shit work. He doesn’t give a fuck about your opinion; he’s just maxing it out on the throttle to hyperdrive speed in accomplishing success with his art. Also, shoutout to Julie for shooting the cover art for the single.
Ovrthro - Foolish
After hearing artist Ovrthro on ImaniCarolyn's self-titled EP, we were amazed at his sound and hoped to hear more of his content appear on our radar. As wild as the world works, he reached out to let us know about his upcoming single titled "Foolish," in which he shared with us an exclusive listen before it officially dropped. We got to sit with the record for a while and enjoyed the harmonious ambiance of the single that spoke clear of being loved while being overwhelmed with emotions. Not knowing if you're making a fool of yourself, but you're not worried because you're too deep being lost in it. We enjoyed the track and know many others will follow suit during the fall season.
No Rome - When She Comes Around
Dirty Hit has easily become one of my favorite labels period, they got so much talent & No Rome is one of those names you’ll constantly see whenever you look up anything concerning this label. He’s been dropping music with them for a minute, from 2 excellent EP’s that showcase this artist’s versatility to a slew of singles that only further emphasize his capabilities of not putting himself in a position of being boxed in as an artist, No Rome keeps this winning streak going with the 1st single off his upcoming debut with the label! On “When She Comes Around”, Rome is dealing with his avoidance towards the relationship, maybe it’s been strained in some way & he’s just not ready to confront her yet, even though she has come around, he’s just been yearning it for so long that he doesn’t know how to deal with once the intimacy presents itself, it’s a fitting introduction of what we can expect with the upcoming album!
Maez301 - First Place
Maez301 has been a consistent feature on The Weekly Dip for the simple reason that, the man has been consistent with releasing quality content since signing with Strange Music. He’s released 2 albums & is currently prepping his 3rd effort under the label by the release of these singles leading up to the release which showcase more of that versatility that got him signed in the 1st place. Each of these singles that have dropped have all differed from one another in some way, the 1st 2 were on some R&B shit & even those 2 differed in sound then the 3rd was the rapping ass Tech N9ne feature & now we get him flexing that muscle once again with the warped anthem “First Place”. The sound is woozy & his auto tuned bragging is just permeating over the beat in the most infectious way possible cause no matter the style, Strange just does it better.
san Lorenzo, idknotsure - lookin @ the st**rs
San Lorenzo is stargazing with idknotsure on his latest zany effort, even the sound makes you feel like you’ve just traveled into another galaxial dimension. Their auto tuned tinged vocal work immediately sucks you into this black hole of sound, I mean, this is a sound that can make even the biggest of stars explode. Ginseng really laid out the perfect production for these two to wax eloquently over & don’t be fooled by the auto tuned, too many people let that drive them away from investing into an artist but San here just knows how to make it all the more infectious & it’s just the charisma in which he carries himself, especially over the track, that will lull you into his seemingly false but all the more real reality of his.
AwkwardLowlife - Chain$moke
AwkwardLowlife has had one helluva year, from, what is it, 4 stellar full lengths & a slew of singles in between & even after cause the man just doesn’t stop working, I really hope he does find the chance to sleep but I don’t think he can help but create beautiful music & that’s further emphasized in being exactly what he does on “Chain$moke”. He sounds so numb over this beat, could be all that marijuana dulling him out or maybe lulling him at the very least as he bares his heart for all to see, it’s that emotion he continues to show with each record that will draw you in every single time.
We look forward to what else Awk Low has in store for us, as we’re sure it’ll get us right in the feelies every time. Who knew depression could sound so elating?
Pauliiito - On Go
Finally, we get the first visuals off Pauliiito’s latest release, “In My Element,” & you know whenever you see him, dirtbike or no, but usually you’ll see him on one, he’s forever in it. I’m sure many people may have forgotten just how skilled an MC he is cause lately, he’s just been crushing it on them wheels but it’s only a further emphasis to how he’s always “On Go” in pretty much every aspect of his life. In this video, we get to really see that charisma at play & see him & his people just tearing the streets up, as we’ve seen continuously on his Instagram but such a pleasure to see this side of him continue to be implemented in the music. This is the 3rd time we’ve seen this new look of his, 1st in the Southside Hoodlum cameo then in the “All Black” video by Shelly Knicks, which he also produced & I’m certain he’ll only continue to amplify it. Another note, I love that he actually rocks all the gear cause what he’s been doing with this new skill he’s adopted can almost be seen as a sort of homage to DMX & the Ruff Ryders but I can’t recall ever seeing them rocking the actual biker gear in the video, please correct me if I’m wrong. Much love & respect to those legends, as well as the past, present & future legend that is Pauliiito, as well as the producers of this banger in J Allan & HELLOEDBOY, as well as Los Bandoleros.
