J Soulja - Out The Blew (EP)

With SXSW around the corner, J Soulja has been in a spontaneous mood, first dropping the lineup to his upcoming & anticipated official showcase, The Smokeout, then announcing his headlining set at the DAWA Showcase, which already made his SXSW week a success. His next surprise came at the start of the week when he released his latest EP titled “Out The Blew,” where it’s a fitting title for the project since its unexpected drop made a splash throughout social media. It's becoming an easy listen to enjoy and one of our favorites to highlight in March.

We’ve come across many intros from J Soulja, but this one might be the smoothest out of the bunch which is hard to say since I believe all of his intro records tell a perspective of his present instead of a story. The soulful sample that makes up “WYA” is accompanied by the tuneful chorus that explores J Soulja going through his mindstate of succession. Seeing all he's done to put his city on the map and adoring the clarity, he knows he has to really focus on the future. It even has him crooning the second half of the record, sharing a bit more versatility of his artistry right at the start of the project. Keeping the tempo going at the same pace, his next record, “Made,” explains what truly motivates J Soulja to accomplish his goals to be the man with the shining achievements in his town. These things didn’t happen by mistake; it was destined to be true since J Soulja was made for a heavy set of accolades to come to fruition. His only featured track, “City On Fire,” got him channeling something fierce; while the tone is still steady drumming, the passion is burning, and right now both he & Nicholas Whipps are igniting their path on a steady road ahead. It’s a great back & forth effort from the two emcees and one that introduces us to a new artist that will be keeping close on our radar moving forward. The outro record “Major” is a triumphant release; it’s the only one with more of an upbeat rhythm, while everything else before was played to be soulful. This record is signing off to something spectacular. It’s almost like he’s ringing the belt to announce victory; he’s boastful with the wordplay and going off in a prestigious fashion especially with the production carried by Swishers Beats, MalMadeIt & Arza that cements his reputation in stone to have the people bear to witness his greatness in this music shit.

J Soulja is already off to a hit start for 2023, and it’s clearly only the beginning. Yesterday evening if you happen to see it HereComesTheArt shared the upcoming album art to the sequel of J Soulja’s From The Soul series. Expect that and much more to come throughout the year; we highly recommend you check out the EP here while sharing it around on all social media avenues.
