Gem Vito - Addict Song (Video)

Appearing on our Instagram feed at the top of the week, we got introduced to songstress Gem Vito through her latest release titled “Addict Song.” The melancholy ballad speaks of her own addiction when it comes to her love interest, not knowing if he feels as lost as she does when he’s not around. It’s a blissful tale, and she sings out her emotions in the record so beautifully that it captures a divine essence right as she begins singing to paint this soundscape feeling for you to see her soul spill against agony.

Gem explains the previous vices that once held her back and found her new addiction in you. She explains your love keeps her at ease more than her predecessor drugs ever did; tell her you love her, even if you don’t mean it; she needs to hear it to get it out of her head. She speaks on past mistakes and hopes it doesn’t lead to another relapse; her body and soul can’t take another heartache. Her nonchalant tone is formed gracefully over her words, like there is no care behind them, but there are means of craving behind them instead. She senses the pain from the last moment she was down and it stays in the back of her mind constantly, her addiction is not a box to hide away but a monster to feed. Feeding it the wrong thing can cause her to spiral out of control, but providing the proper antidote can bring her mind back to a tranquil state. It’s an emotional rollercoaster for the record but it’s one that becomes her personal venting mechanism to showcase her forgotten peace.

I couldn’t find any music on DSPs, but she does have a few singles on her SoundCloud that we highly recommend checking out. In our first listen-in to Gem’s music, we have to praise her for making an emotionally worthy record showcasing her undeniable talent. I hope it isn’t long to receive a follow-up record, but we’ll keep her close on our radar for future releases.
