Mélat - February Music (Single)
The love Melat leaves permeating through the air sounds like “February Music” all year round. This the kind of you walk down the aisle to, the music she hopes will hopefully one day have her being carried through the bridal path door. Melat has a love for the music that runs so deep, but this one here is like a marriage proposal & you can apply it to any relationship whether romantic, platonic, familial, it’s just a complete expression of love. As always expected with artists, these records are their babies & we’ve been blessed enough to see this child take their first steps. The record was written by a dear friend of hers so let’s give Montae some love cause the lyricism on here is just soothingly strumming those heartstrings. Pha The Phenom behind the production just adds that extra layer of ethereal beauty, just three talents coming together to create an out of body listening experience.
This record finds Melat feeling a cavalcade of emotions overwhelming her heart, mind & soul. This life of hers can get a little hectic so it’s understandable she’d want someone to come home to, to keep her at ease when life gets a little shaky. Even our romantic relationships can be a bit much to handle but it takes both partners to want to make it work, as she feels is possible, even after all they’ve been through up to this point. Commitment is a risk but she’s willing to take that leap of faith with this man, seeing him for all his strength & beauty. I love the climax of the verse where she’s questioning whether or not she’s tripping like, is this really happening, am I really about to marry this man? And him, staring deep into her retinas as she approaches, feeling like God put an angel on Earth, just for him. This record just feels like two souls uniting in holy matrimony. The second verse is almost like the honeymoon phase, daily text reminders of how they wish they could be in each other’s presence to then walking the red carpet, having talks about starting a family, it’s what we all strive for in this life or at the very least, it’s a nice idea we can only hope for. That final verse though will have you falling to your knees, surrendering yourself to the immense love this person has filled you with.
Even if you’re not the one getting married today or have a significant other to share these words, these vibes with, share it with your crush or even yourself, I’ve always been told self love is the best love. Thank God for goddesses like Melat, treading this green earth of ours, living nothing but love everywhere her presence graces.
