Cha’Keeta B - Where The Wildflowers Grow (EP)
With her sultry single “Aromatic” laying down the soil for her upcoming release, Cha’Keeta B begins to water the foundation by announcing her next project titled “Where The Wildflowers Grow,” where she lets it sit in the sunlight of support from her fanbase to when it was ready to sprout in receive deservedly accolades and more making it one of my favorite project this year. Cha’Keeta B is never one to disappoint with her music, and she keeps that streak going with this incredible EP that is god-gifted from start to finish, with each record titled after a flower, so sit back and enjoy the aroma of each stem picked for your listening pleasure.
Even with a softer tempo for her production, Cha'Keeta B is still delivering this exhaustible flow, not giving it any time to breathe; instead of stopping and smelling the roses, Chakeeta B is providing a little more light to grow by sharing a more intensive look into the struggles most women go through especially black women who have experienced loss and more fighting to feel empowered. Cha’Keeta is speaking from the heart, so it comes off as anger, but the frustration is warranted since so many struggle without a voice and tackles obstacles with no way to escape yet still find the courage to walk on through them. Alongside her in the record is Lakrea, who spills her soul into the chorus and infectiously spells out love in such a dreamscape manner. I can’t imagine or relate to the fight they have to face every day, Cha’Keeta B is starting this EP with one of her most impactful releases to date, and I stand in solidarity with her to speak on a subject that doesn’t get talked about often. “Dandelion” is just that perfect record that makes you want to hear it repeatedly, with the Cha’Keeta picking off the pedals dealing with men who don’t know what they want, and she is tired of hearing it. She's upfront initially, so why toy with her emotions when she’s ready to get serious? Love is not a game where someone can be crowned a winner; it’s a mutual connection to uplift each other spirits where if the future unfolds beautifully, then a seed is born from it. Her featured verses from Marcell Clemons & Ivy Roots made me an instant fan, where their collaborate efforts played so incredibly well with Cha’Ketta’s energy that they formed something special with this record. As mentioned before, “Aromatic” is the original start for the anticipation for the project, and it still is a fan-favorite for Cha’Ketta B to heat the temperature like a greenhouse by sharing intimate details with a lover and giving you a little bit of the fantasy that goes on inside her mind. The project is explorable, meaning you will find something to enjoy every time, from the rhythm shaking to “White Lotus” with Tree G to the come-up journey she expels in “Desert Rose” with Dame Mac & Terrance Lèon, Cha’Ketta B made something memorable with this EP, nothing you can compare to, her mindstate was on a different path. She bloomed new entries to her life, becoming more personal and making every expectation happen for herself. She is her own flower growing with no sign of stopping anytime soon, where you don’t think she can go she will prove otherwise and succeed.
We want to start off my saying congratulations to Cha’Keeta B for being an official artist for SXSW 24 and for sharing this EP to the world. We know her grind doesn’t stop, and we are excited to see what else comes with it for 2024. We highly encourage you all to take some time in your day to hear the EP if you haven’t yet and be a fan instantly of her sound; we guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
