Briana Renee - Playette (EP)

Since my hiatus, I've been getting back to normal on releases, so I started searching for new music to promote throughout social media. I happened to come across a project that hadn’t dropped yet, but the album cover intrigued me to where I needed to find out more about the songstress posed on the cover. This beauty with a voice posed on the cover goes by the name of Briana Renee, hailing from Arlington, TX, whose upcoming EP, “Playette,” project got my attention due to the definition of her EP’s name and how every great R&B project with an artist posed near or in a car is granted to be something spectacular, don’t question the method I’m only spitting facts here and spoiler alert; this project can be added to that list due to how graciously she serves in this EP with her angelic voice and also on how much of her heart is poured out on each track.

I’m loving this trend with the last few projects I’ve come across sending me straight to heaven with the intro & Briana is doing that here with “Missed Call.” She begins the ballad by singing about how she’s not feeling the way you’ve been acting lately; it’s like you’re in two different places, and where she needs you, you're never there anymore. She’s dialing you in, and if you don’t answer, then she knows where she’s at with you; send that love back if you don’t want it, but trust someone will. I love how you can hear the emotion in her voice. The topic of discussion is a hurtful memory, yet she find comfortability to vent to the listener, which is an ongoing trend in this project and one that pinpoints her true talent. Dealing with the tug-of-war that her heart and her mind are in, colliding in feelings of heartbreak, loneliness, and anger, she confides in the many thoughts that run through her end with how past mistakes begin to happen and how they transformed her to be the person she is currently. Again, the definition of the project’s name goes hand in hand with her words; the confidence she once had has faded slowly from her grasp; where your feelings no longer matter, hers never did in the relationship so why should yours? The hunger to see the affection she brings to a man’s eye is there, but still, the hurt comes up whenever it gets too real, and the fear of heartbreak comes back to the surface. Briana Renee's seductive rhythm is pressed on joints like “Work My Magic & Weed N Tequila,” where you can sense her vigorous energy in the mix that shifts the listening experience to glimpse into her innermost feelings. In other records, she has a more laid-back approach to her tracks, especially with her features Parisxart & Hrtbrkjnz that create this enriching effect to play the part of her character in the track to get the full sensation of her essence. It’s a project that plays off real emotions while still drawing you into her personality to show that a true artist as gifted as herself is on the way to establishing that R&B like this is still here to reign. It’s deep and beautiful to touch on a woman‘s perspective on her side of heartbreak and what follows after; Briana Renee created something special with this EP.

Briana has found a new fan over here on this side, and I’m excited to see what is next in her journey; I do need to say that I would love to see her perform some of these tracks in a live setting soon even if it’s something we need to curate just to watch it happen. I highly encourage our listeners to get introduce to Briana Renee by checking out her latest ep and sharing it around on all social media avenues.
