Alondra Marie - Another Lesson (Single)
Though she’s been around for a few years, with a relatively good amount of music, I say we’re about due to start mentioning Alondra in conversations concerning some of the more pristine vocalists of our time cause she’s at the hilt of this singing thing, she’s an R&B sanger, in every sense of the term. Her raspy vocals soar you to the highest of altitudes when she expresses her mind, body & soul on these records & “Another Lesson” is just another one of those ones in her catalog thus far. For me personally, it’s her most intimate number since “Begging”, a record that really showcases her vulnerability as she highlights the missteps she’s taken in her emotional journey of love & life. The transparency throughout this tearjerker will have you looking at your own mistakes you may have made in your current or past relationships. A lot of people look at a relationship ending as a failure but it’s really a blessing in disguise if you heed the proper lessons it has to offer.
The dissolution of love can show us a lot of the areas we need to work on in order to move forward with our lives with more compassion, for ourselves really cause we tend to beat ourselves up far too much when things don’t turn out the way we intended them to. Her lyricism on this number is easily some of her best but the lyric that strikes a chord within me personally is so simple yet so impactful. “And the life I gave you fanciful, not enough” & man if that isn’t true, we tend to think all we supply our lover with is enough to make them stick around whether that be gifts, money, showers of affection but fail to realize that love requires so much more than these “finer things”. We need to be much more forgiving of ourselves cause a lot of these mistakes we make when it comes to love happens when we’re younger & don’t really know any better but if only we knew then what we now know right? Love hurts though, it doesn’t always have to but it does & there’s not much that can save us that world of it.
We’re not sure what else Alondra has in store for the new year but this single was definitely just an appetizer of what’s to come for her in the following months. If you’re looking for sincere, vulnerable R&B then look no further & be sure to have the tissues on deck, as well as clench your pillow ever so tightly before throwing this number on. Fun fact, she engineered her own vocals on this record, mixing & mastering done all by herself. No wonder she sounds so immaculate! I also don’t care that we’re late on covering this single, though I do apologize but it’s never too late to remind folks of the beauty they may have missed out on. It’s definitely not a record I personally want flying under anyone’s radar.
