VI$ION - Sound of Life (Album)
At last, the long-awaited album from VI$iON is finally here; where the hard work & dedication you hear on the eminent project is destined to leave a permanent mark in the city. Opening up, he’s already confident as ever, rapping at an elite level, it’s no wonder he’s been “SELLIN OUT SHOWS”. You can tell from the production & skillset that he created this introduction strictly for the stage. He’s just talking his shit, busting down doors with the utmost gusto, rhyming with such bravado, it’ll put a shame to most rapper’s braggadocio. He knows he’s better than most & not even just with the raps, but when it comes to what he’s smoking on, the fact that he doesn’t stick around the party like most of these groupie ass males, etc etc.
But when he’s “OUTSIDE”, it’s like Omar’s coming so everyone scatters like roaches fore they fear to be caught slipping by someone of his caliber. He doesn’t wanna have to revert back to his old ways but they are still very much a part of him so if necessary, it’d be nothing to strike the fear back into the hearts of his opps. I always expect something raw when the production sounds like this, I don’t know what you call that effect but just know it’s a problem when you hear it. On “PLUG LOVE”, VI$ION weaves a double story about a woman infatuated with the plug, all the glitz & glamour that can come from it. When the leisure is over though, he’s back on that “JASON FLOW”, putting an end to all his enemies & ironically, all throughout this performance, he’s seeing red as he absolutely blacks out over this haunting production.
No matter how hard the push comes to shove, VI$ION never folds & he certainly doesn’t associate with anyone who will crease so easily. The only things that they’ll be folding are money & possibly your bitch. SOUTHWEST RIO & JAH add onto these sentiments in earnest fashion. “Trappin In Space” is probably the most creative record on here & it’s pretty self explanatory but the way he’s able to combine these two different worlds together is impressive. As high as he is, he hopes he “DONT FALL”, as hard as he worked to attain all of these finer things, he’s working overtime to keep it all. There’s an infinite supply of gems throughout this reflective number that hopefully someone looking up to him heeds.
Nothing like a good posse cut, especially if you’re flipping a classic like “Slow Jamz” into a “WEED SONG”. This record has all that Texas flavor you could ever need, the record alone is like the most premium gas, what did he say in an earlier record, all your weed is steam, his gas is heavy, like fucking smog. His only plan is to “KEEP BALLIN” & showing out with his offensive work on the court, breaking many ankles along the way with his lyricism that only continues swishing through that net. There’s a lot of reflecting & introspection throughout this album, whether he’s pondering his past maneuvering through the “TRENCHES” or grateful that he’s moving past that life on “GOTTA MAKE IT”, this album is nothing but free jewelry in the form of palatable, great music, real life music at that.
