The Cool Kids - Scam Likely (Video)

The duo of the year, The Cool Kids, released three albums, “Before Shit Got Weird” & “Baby Oil Staircase/Chillout,” which solidified their comeback story with the most prominent rollout that continues on giving. They dropped announcements of merch, NFTs & their upcoming Night School, a three-day event that includes a meal prepped by Chuck Inglish & Chef Ben Truesdell, a tapping of the event, and a performance to end it off with a bang. Personally, it makes me upset that I can’t attend since it’s in Chicago, but if they do one in Texas, best believe I’m in there like swimwear. In the mix of dropping all these incredible things, they still had time to release some lightwerk for the fans, which was a visual off their “Before Shit Got Weird” project to the fan-favorite record “Scam Likely.” With Lonnie Edwards behind the visual direction, he makes the creativity of the record come to life in the viewing that matches the eccentric styles of both Mikey & Chuck so perfectly. It’s another dope release that needs another dope write-up, and who better than us to talk about it here?

One of the great things about The Cool Kids is how they start up a record; they bring so much illustrious flavor to the intro, which basks in the dip of the verse for you to take some and enjoy it. Sir Michael Rocks is rocking with potent swagger throughout his verse, with the video constructing his valiant efforts in an animated form to come out the screen like how his words come out the speakers. Suaveness with the epitome of braggadocious, Michael Rocks ain’t lost an ounce of pimpin and showcases heaps of charisma for the fans to enjoy while Chuck Inglish rolls us out the record. Pressed with the cunning to be slick & comical with the raps, Chuck sparks attention throughout his verse, captivating in an Adidas tracksuit with his bravado and showing out for the audience to recognize just how superior the duo is; it isn’t too many built like them so while we have them around let’s cherish their talents & energy. The video isn’t the most extended viewing from the duo, but it’s one of the most pristine from them, and I like the direction they’ve been focusing on when it comes to releases; this is a shining example of how much growth they’ve been through all these years.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a video from the duo, but I’m hoping there’s plenty more to surface in the future. Make sure if you are living in the Chicago area, you get tickets to their Night School events and keep staying updated on upcoming releases by following their pages on both Twitter & IG.
