Jaszy Shavers & Tavaras Jordan - Carolina Soul (EP)
At the top of the week, I came across this stunning visual from Jaszy Shavers titled “Everything,” where her sultry sounds drew me immediately to give this recent viewing my undivided attention. We were introduced to the release by Tavaras Jordan, who we’ve featured on the site many times before due to his collaborations with Le$, Monroe Flow, & of course, his own projects that’ve stunning kept in rotation for months on end. The soulful essence of Jaszy’s vocals mixed with Tavara's prominent production made this release an instant favorite for us, and while in the process of working on a review for the video, I saw that an EP titled “Carolina Soul” would be dropping in the middle of the week which I waited patiently to hear yesterday night and decided to construct a review on the entire project instead.
Not wasting one minute, Jaszy & Tavaras come out strong with the intro record named after the project title that's catching a wave and setting the motions for an enjoyable listening experience. Jaszy starts singing & swaying in the record while the production slowly guides this groove over her sensual tone to begin feeding us this blissful sound throughout the single. Mixed with a softened medley in her voice and this energy to shift across the track so naturally, you can already tell the collaboration efforts are smooth, gaining more traction as you move into the rest of the EP. Overwhelmed with thoughts running through her mind when it comes to you can seem a bit crazy at first, but she’s “All Good.” With the times changing, things are moving fast between y’all, and she’s looking to slow it down to live in the moment, but it’s still something she wants to speed up to be closer to you. Jaszy doesn’t hold back emotions throughout this project; if these two first joints aren’t enough proof, then you aren’t listening. As mentioned before, “Everything” is initially how we got introduced to Jaszy and what I love about the ballad is the passion behind it. Everything and anything you can bring to her she wants, and she can bring you more of it, trust and let her. It’s a record that gravitates to her aura of being such a defying soul to the touch; she’s creating this feeling in the joint you can attach to when listening.
Another thing that gravitated me to this project is the inspiration from the 90’s sound; it pours over in the production onto records like “What You Want” with the feeling of getting behind your companion’s true feelings. She feels like there’s more your not telling her, so now is the time to do so; she’s tired of not knowing what you want from her, so instead of driving herself crazy about it, she want you to tell her. It’s a vital record and one that continues to bleed into the remaining tracks where you can’t help not to be moved by this EP. Jaszy Shavers did an excellent job of wearing her heart on her sleeve for this EP, with Tavaras Jordan doing his part in conducting the beat to let her do it on. I’m taken back by how incredible this EP is, and I need to see more recognition for it throughout the week.
I’m going to be paying more attention to Jaszy Shavers moving forward; I’m sure right now she’ll be basking in the praise she’s getting so far on the EP & I’m hoping more visuals from her are in the works. Tavaras Jordan got another blessing on his resume, shoutout to the homie for always sharing his talent with us. We highly recommend you check out the EP here while sharing it around on all social media avenues.
