WhyJae feat Trae Tha Truth - My Sickness (Single)

Twitter was down today, and I’m convinced that it was because of WhyJae dropping some new heat last night with Trae Tha Truth titled “My Sickness.” He didn’t drop anything yesterday, and Twitter was fine; coincidence?

WhyJae posted on the cover art that this is a letter for you penned by him, in which he talks about personal matters in his life that contemplated him to think about doing drastic measures to cope with the pain & loss he’s endured in the last few years. He’s spoken about this subject matter in his previous release, and with this single, he’s continuing to do so more fluidly. As I mentioned then, this could be his way to let off his emotions to listeners who’ve always been there for him during the ups & downs. Venting his frustration and fighting his demons on his own has taken its toll on him; he’s willing to let you in to help. He’s done what he can so far, and it’s maintained to find himself again, but the journey isn’t finished yet he still has ways to go.

Sickness could be many things, a cold, the flu, heartbreak, or a change in emotions due to grief or loss; WhyJae explains his sickness in the record and its powerful thought. I think this is the most personal joint we’ve heard from WhyJae or even a rapper as of late when speaking on their emotional breaking point and how they maintain to come back from it. Listening to WhyJae beginning this single the way he did had me uneasy for the fact that I never knew he was going through the things he was & because I know the feeling all too well since I’ve been there before. He’s left it in God hand’s because of where his mental state was; he saw depressing days with friends out of it & enemies left there to spread hate. Don’t envy his lifestyle; he wouldn’t want anyone feeling the weight of his hurt, not even a hater but yet he still he goes on. That shows the warrior in his heart and no one can break that. He welcomed his baby girl into his life, and there was the light he needed; he can’t leave the earth now because he has his daughter to watch grow up. I love the sample in the record for this chorus, and shoutout to yungdez for constructing this so perfectly to fit the raw emotions of both artists. It leads into Trae Tha Truth’s verse which is mighty when he speaks about people coming for his spot or his pockets when he’s in a position like he is currently. People seek to bring you down by any means necessary, and while the snakes start surrounding you, you build a wall that keeps them out but could also keep the ones you want to keep close out of your space. It’s dealing with these struggles that Trae channels into his verse, wanting to find answers to them, but he’s not looking for the easy road, just the timing to make it happen. WhyJae anchors the record by letting off the rage he’s build-up from those seeking to end him while he was down, praying for the fall, and you bound to regret it; WhyJae got the heart of a champion, and ain’t nothing stopping him now. You had your chance, and you blew it; start seeing the crown put back on WhyJae’s head in no time, come defeated or exile for life out of the SCBW kingdom.

This first single off his upcoming “SCBW” album is tough, but I can assure you there's more to follow just like it. WhyJae has seen good and bad days, which we pray he’ll see more triumphant in the good days. He’s hardworking and fearless, and sometimes we go down a path that is hard to find our way back from; not saying that WhyJae has found it yet, but I’m sure he’s in the right direction to be there soon enough. As always, we highly recommend that you check out WhyJae’s latest single here while sharing it around on all social media avenues
