Elajah Mouhammed - Battle Of The Bastards (Video)

I’m big on names & Elajah Mouhammed just really sticks out, never heard of this cat til my guy Frank put me on, he’s always putting me onto to new, fresh talent fish otherwise probably wouldn’t have hit my radar & if it did, it would be at a much later time so none better than the present. “Battle of the Bastards” is how I feel every morning, like I’m also at war with my bastardization. The visuals are as abstract as the music itself. Dense rhymes over soulful yet house esque production, almost sounds like something Tyler, The Creator would definitely gravitate towards. His lyricism is as hot as that cereal he just microwaved & with Oat Milk at that, just to further emphasize how much of an acquired taste this lyrical exercise is about to be! He’s about to be the 1st person to get me to try my cereal in this fashion!

He starts off this record with a sentiment I’ve been sharing for God knows how long. We have these primitive thumb type contraptions & yet we use them for everything than their actual purpose, which is to call. So I’m glad he opened up like that cause on some real shit, just call me, you know how much faster whatever boring shit you have to say would move along if it was expressed in a quick call? He said, you think you’re the side but you’re just the main baby, that’s sure to sting a bit cause he says it almost a condescending way like, you’re not as special as you probably think you are baby, he’s sorry but the side piece is clearly offering more than what he’s stuck dealing with when it comes to y’all’s relationship. He does hope to let her down easily though, despite the shame he’s feeling in having to admit how bad he did her.

It’s almost bittersweet in a sense how confessional this record is, he’s spilling a lot of honesty that is sure to paint him in a bad light. It’s like an anthem for how we men sometimes, no, quite often, too often tear these women we involve ourselves with down just to make us feel good about ourselves. At this point, we can’t blame the women if they assume we’re only using them as stepping stones to get where we truly want to be. Oh the ode to being such the hopeless romantic, ain’t he right fellas? Love was never a lucky thing for alot of us so it’s nice to be represented in such a unique & artistic fashion. Not too sure what Elajah has coming next but hopefully it’s as intriguing as these visuals & concept in general!
