CAM!? - sky island (Video)

Y’all already know that I always have to point out my affinity for alliteration so thank you Casio Cam for immediately making me wanna invest my time into what you have to say. Before jumping into this record that my guy Frank of course was gracious enough to send my way, I had to jump into his first visual cause there’s only two lone visuals on his channel, that alone is intriguing & while I did very much enjoy “2 sword style”, it seems both those swords continue to get sharpened on “sky island”. He immediately comes on this Lo-Fi number just floating, gliding across the wind of this instrumentation, like a free bird lyrically. I love how the music & lyrics creep in on this one, right off rip, you can tell this is someone who’s passionate about music & is seeking out everything he could possibly gain from pursuing this dream of his.

He like a lot of us, refuses to wait around for people to open the doors for him, he don’t take it personal if they won’t let him in their buildings cause he knows in heart, mind & soul that soon they’ll be the ones trying to get into his establishment & by then, he’ll be able to do the same to them & slam those doors right in their faces like they did him. It’s that confidence in his overall demeanor that really makes him stick out like a sore thumb. People love confidence, people who are so sure of themselves that no one can really convince them otherwise. I love how conversational his flow is & not only is he meticulously articulating his mindset to us but lyrically he’s just flexing on us cause he knows everything he’s saying is about to be manifested, cause he damn sure is putting in the work for it all to come to fruition, that’s evident as ever.

His syllable play on this is ridiculous, as well as hitting us with some clever little metaphors in the mix, “stay on point like pool cues”, is such a concise yet brilliant little bar. This is God level raps if I’m being honest. He’s lyrically rhyming at the highest of altitudes, not many people are blessed enough to be walking on these clouds like he is, they’d fall right through them but not him, he’s snug as bug up there, finding comfort on nine cloud nines. I’m loving all these turns with the camera as well, he & Adrian Thims really showed out with these simplistic yet enthralling visuals, not to mention he produced the record as well, which has me even more excited for what else is to come from this cat, love me a producer/rapper, love the artists who don’t just stick to one thing, versatility is everything to me!
