xoDEADHOMIE feat Carter Raye - In My Hoody (Single)
xoDEADHOMIE is San Antonio’s best kept secret, the man is as prolifically talented as they come. A lot of people would try to argue that he’s saturating the market with as much music as he seems to always be dropping but I’d beg to differ. His audience wants all this music & he’s gracious enough to bless them with it. I just really love his confidence cause it seems that, he’s not too worried how people are gonna take a song after he records it, he’s confident enough in his musicality to just drop without hesitation, no snippet, no warning, no nothing, just boom, here’s another record for your bitch ass. If you follow him heavy like I do too, records like this will make you smile cause his music tends to lean more towards a serious, more melancholically dismal side of him but when he’s on his street shit, you better duck.
I’ve always admired when artist don’t rely on a big name feature to grab your attention but rather put their people on & introduce their audience to someone they may not be too familiar with. Carter Raye is that feature here & she does her thug thizzle, bouncing beautifully atop this subtle banger & she’s the first thing you hear, which shows how humble he is as an artist, to not be full of himself to the point he’s afraid to let another artist, let alone a woman, outshine him on his own record. Too many dudes in this industry be like that but he’s more concerned about making the record’s vision he had in mind, come to fruition. She really sets the tone for xo to do his thang on this record & it’s like she knew to bring her best being on a record with him.
It’s almost like a hoodish love tale, both are infatuated with where the other comes from as they come together to hit this lick & split the take. They really on their “Spring Breakers” type shit with this one, ready to rob listeners so quick, they rob you seen as opposed to blind, even with the hoodie hiding most of their face. We’re not entirely sure if he has another project slated for release soon but we do know he’s always working on something so I wouldn’t be surprised if we get the follow up to “They Want Me Dead” soon, this track could’ve easily fit into the mold of that project, even as a bonus. Hopefully we get to hear more from Carter Raye as well cause she absolutely killed this record & is definitely someone I’m keeping my eyes peeled for in the near future!
