Mike Dimes - Home (Single)
Late last year, music moguls Lil Jay & Question had both confidentially stated that upcoming San Antonio rapper Mike Dimes would be a success heading into 2022, where his shine was already glowing and would only be getting brighter the more he continues onward. With two eminent music figures co-signing him, we were on track to get to know his catalog & keep him on our radar moving forward. He had singles like “Backroom,” “No Trends,” & “Wiss,” compiling a hefty amount of streams in 2021 that continues with the release of his project “Dlog,” which led the top spot in the middle of May, paving an introduction to his artistry. He has successfully received a plethora of accolades so far in his career. In January, he became one of Spotify’s top artists to watch in 2022, which is a deserveable accomplishment. We were waiting patiently to get the opportunity to post his music on the page, which happened earlier in the week when he dropped a new single titled “Home” that was accompanied with a visual to deliver an onslaught of praise for the Texas rattler whose monstrous wave is shown in full fledge mode here for this release.
He’s a young gunner from Texas, so please excuse his grammar; Mike expresses brotherhood in his camp that when he wins, his team does too. They all come from the same cloth & the come up is necessary for them to continue winning. Mike Dimes proceeds to let off the lyrical choppa in the record with no need to stop until he’s emptied the clip. He swangs & bangs in this release that compliments the Waboosh production nicely, from slow-rolling tempo to sped-up verses that continue to hold up the record to the prestigious powerhouse it is. The grandeur nature of the record, then leading into the flashy style of the visual, showcases the many hidden gems here in the city. Like Nicks Auto Parts, where the majority of the video was shot at, and one of our favorites is at the fame sign at El Montan Motor Hotel on San Pedro. Directed by Simon Chasalow, who has beautiful timed transition that gives Mike many flourishes looks throughout the video that catches the San Antonio native in reputable fashion throughout.
Days after the release, he announced a Texas tour that begins in SXSW & ends in San Antonio at the Paper Tiger. We hope to link with him soon to get a better introduction & pick up about his creative process on how pristine the video came out and what he has in store for the future. In the meantime, we recommend you check out both the single & visual here while sharing it around on all social media platforms.
