JVCK JAMES - ON THE ROCKS (EP)
East London native JVCK JAMES has been making music since he was damn near in the womb so it’s no wonder his musical output continues to hit with his prolific nature as an artist we’ve been baring witness to for a few years now. It’s amazing how these artists from the UK can sound more American than Americans, you wouldn’t have even guessed he’s from there. He has that swagger of his hometown but those neo-soul feels of this EP have the potential to reach people from all walks of life. This is worldwide music he’s crafted here on his latest EP. I wouldn’t even call him the future of new age R&B, he’s just R&B in its purest form & this EP here is just another testament to his permanence in this genre.
For this to be his only release in 2022, it sure as hell leaves its mark on the listener’s heart. Opening up with the floaty “Galaxy Swim (Deeper)”, he professes his love for this woman as the two fuse into one another for helluva out of body experience. This is love making music right here. Even his boys know that she’s the real deal & he’s lucky to have her, as is she. He’s attuned to her needs, as well as knowing her body more than she probably knows, hitting spots that no man before him, especially her ex was able to hit, nor was even concerned with finding out for himself. It’s much deeper than sex with him though, it’s like he wants to dive deeper into who she is as a person. His spirituality on this number is ever so present as he delicately guides her into letting her guard down so as to enter her temple.
Nothing like a little “Drunk Love” to get temperatures rising, though he’s a bit tired of the one night stands. She only seems to hit his line whenever the whiskey got her acting out but he’s looking for something much more intimate cause these flings are starting to become boring for him. Sure the quickies are fun for the time being but it’s just not good enough for his mind, body & soul, nor is it for hers. She got him over here shedding “Hennessy Tears” when she doesn’t even deserve them but here they are, floating in the ocean of them, she’s just too intoxicating for him to resist. The record feels like the elixir is going down so smoothly, we damn near wanna get in on the action, the good love being supplied. Ending things with the floor stopping subtlety of “Love In The Club”, he concludes that he’s never gonna find what he’s looking for living this night life the way he’s been. He questions it but it seems he hasn’t been able to resist the temptation.
