8th-Light - Token (EP)

A man of many talents, San Antonio’s own 8th-Light delivers us an appreciation “TOKEN” with his latest EP. If you’re not familiar, the man is one of the most musically inclined souls we have representing our great city. Most of the artists who grew up always surrounded by music tend to yield many swords. He swings all of them with the utmost gusto on this EP. He immediately immortalizes himself on the daunting “InifinitePlayerFromTheHimalayas”, his flow is so seamless & you can tell he’s just freestyling but the way he delivers over this soothing production of his makes it all sound written, especially the wizardry he’s casting upon these words of his.

Things get a bit funky on “AmericanEagle(2 Weeks Notice)”, I think it’s safe to say 8th speaks for all of us in telling his supposed boss to basically fuck off, he don’t control him, if he gotta leave early to put in that grit in the studio, he’s gonna do it, regardless if he gets fired or not, no job is worth your sanity. Especially when you have to change everything about yourself just to fit into that position, why should he have to shave his beard if he ain’t even working with food? I might just walk into work blaring this & flat out quit, fuck a 2 weeks notice.

On “Joshua 6:1-27(KING SIZE)”, he channels that God energy to reign supremely over nearly everyone with this holy feeling anthemic number. The angels are chanting rather than weeping to this one. Ending with “PARKOUR(GOD’s Finest)”, he’s finally in full form, embracing the new path that God has sent him on & although many may be praying on his downfall, he’s aware enough to know he’d never revert back to his old patterns, he wouldn’t give the devil exactly what he’s been wanting, he’s way too smart to fall for those games. 8th-Light is one of our best kept secrets right now, I’m shocked he’s barely hit my radar being this elite but it’s never too late to have that third eye opened so I advise you delve into not just this EP but everything prior.
