If you haven’t had the honor & the privilege to be in the presence of Queen Bre then I pray you get the chance to soon cause he energy is some of the most radiant to brighten up our local scene. Longtime followers of hers can gladly rejoice at the official release of a classic you were only able to find on her YouTube page with “I Can’t Get Over It” & it’s the first of many to bless the DSP’s so you can expect more of those hidden gems to be exposed for all to hear. When you hear gems like this that have just been hiding in plain sight, it makes you wonder how anybody can fix their mouth to make the brave claim that R&B is dead. Tell that to a seasoned songwriter who recently opened up for Musiq Soulchild. I’m quite certain she’ll beg to differ.
Ever since I first got exposed to her back at this poetry night a while back, her name has just stuck with me until I finally ran back into her at Burnhouse, where she performed this single. It was quite the introduction to her as an artist & since that day, I’ve been patiently waiting for this song to hit streaming. It’s a slow burning ballad which details her infatuation with her potential lover. She’s lost in a trance everytime she sees this person shining & is pining to do anything she can to be in their presence. It’s like love at first sight as she immediately melts at the thought of their very existence. She needs a man who really got it like that, who can treat her like the queen she is & is ready to let down her guard with the utmost ease, so as long as their willing to show her all the glitz & glamour this lifestyle of theirs has to offer.
She can’t seem to shake the overwhelming feelings of love & bliss that are overtaking her & why would she want to anyway? A lot of men aren’t willing to take on the challenge of catering to a high class woman & it’s not just financial security she’s looking for, she already got that but private jets & chefs, all the latest designer clothing & shoes, showering her with diamonds, these things couldn’t hurt. After all, is she not deserving of all the finer things in life? But it’s the emotional safety this person is granting her that really has her falling head over heels. That confidence they’re exhibiting as well is really impressing her enough to willingly let her portcullis down in order to allow them into her temple. She ain’t here to play those games she once played, there’s no time for that, especially when the synergy is felt in this out of body experience.
