NRTH - Mia (Single)

On his 4th single overall & 2nd of 2021, it looks like Fort Worth's own NRTH is going "MIA," & judging from the smooth conviction in which his delivering what he has to say. He's almost detailing a story to the things he's experienced thus far in his wildly hectic life. From having to see loved ones behind bars yet being real enough to stay connected with his brother & never criticizing him regardless of what he's in there for. Then to the overindulgence of good smoke & fine women, he's the one she's going to be laying with, but after that's said & done, he's back to making those significant shifts in his life, being that there are things far more important than something he probably does in his past time.

I love how he says that he's here to challenge irrelevance cause; honestly, a lot of music doesn't really express truthfulness in the lyrical content of these records. Many people just fake the funk & then wonder why we wound up witnessing the rise & fall of a lot of them. That has a lot to do with them just not being relevant to shit that's really going in the world & our communities. Here's an artist who is definitely here to stay, someone who understands very well that longevity is the name of the game, someone who just continues to persevere despite who likes it or not, that's not in his control, so he doesn't pay it any mind when it's nose to the grindstone time.

I love how he details a lot of grittiness about where he comes from but still lets us know about the finer things he's working towards in life. It's letting you know that he's still the same guy from that area; he's still cool with many people who will really check you about the things you claim to be doing. Still, nobody has to check him cause the authentic way he clearly carries himself & the autotune tinge on his voice really add to the record. He's not only rapping his ass off, but it gives it such a subtle yet modernist feel. It's like you can turn up to some intelligent music for once & that beat switch is just impeccable; all of this resulting in his most immaculate effort thus far & already, I'm excited for more from this masterful lyricist.
