Kal Banx - KEEPITINTHEFAMILY+ (Mixtape)
Dallas producer and influential creative Kal Banx is fresh off his production & vocal contributions to Isaiah Rashad's third studio album, "The House Is Burning." You can hear his signature drums on such records as "Hey Mista," "Wat U Sed,", "Chad," & fan-favorite single, "Rip Young." He's been a prominent producer already with being behind the board on tracks with artists like Chaz French, Wale, Jorja Smith, Baby Keem, IDK & J. Cole, so it's safe to say he's one of Texas's famed producers on top of the Plato of hip-hop currently. I say all this to help showcase his talent to give an introduction on his latest beat tape titled "KEEPITINTHEFAMILY+" for most people who might be unfamiliar with his work but have more than likely heard one of his successful beat patterns on their favorite tracks.
I enjoy a collection of soulful production with some ill samples added, and this is precisely what we get on this beat tape. Now while I have a plethora of enjoyable tapes that I gravitate to just like this, this one has to be my all-time favorite joint. To begin, I know being a Dallas native, Kal's roots are heavy in the record "THOBIKE+" since he samples DSR's Throwback Freestyle" over this soothing production that really showcases a trill potent vibe to the track. The MF DOOM (RIP) record "Gazillion Ear" over a tranquil piano cut is simply a track that I can't get enough of & stands out to me. Others include Kendrick's "Humble" & JIDs "Ladies, Ladies, Ladies," being some of the ones I targeted during my first playthrough. In all truth, the whole thing was amazing. I already knew Kal Banx's production catalog before this, which automatically had me clicking and saving when I saw the tape had been released. I'm intrigued to know if he plans on making more of these beat tapes in the future because I am on board to see an occurrence of these releases throughout this year.
We love to see anyone from Texas shine, and nobody is shiner brighter than Kal Banx at this moment. It's not always about a rap artist to see success; it can be any creative behind the camera, behind the art, and even behind the scenes putting in work. In this case, it's behind the boards, and he's doing a hell of a job succeeding in it. We hope to see continued success for Kal Banx, and we hope our viewers can catch on to his work now and be prepared for the ride they have ahead to see his wave continue to go up.
