AwkwardLowlife - Incinerate (Album)
Everyone's favorite lowlife who makes things awkward that is, with how talented he is, each record he puts out, he's expanded his sound further & further. On his second album of 2021, following "Wrong Life," Awkward is ready to "Incinerate" with us, opening things up with a full-fledged Pop Punk number & I must say, I've loved this resurgence of that sound lately. Awk is one of those dudes I'd place at the forefront of the reemergence of this style, everything about him, from his attitude, his authentic style, as in appearance, his voice, the way he gets his messages across & more importantly, his candor. We're getting a front-row seat into this new phase of his career & life.
We're all just "Creatures" in the night; it's like when Jack met Sally on this night of his with her around, it's not even Christmas, but she makes the night darker. It's like he boiled toxicity in a cauldron, inhaled the fumes & exhaled the beauty in it. They're perfectly imperfect together; the chemistry is clearly felt between the two, so like creatures, let's get lost in the night, but that's if "Demon Girl 666" is willing. She doesn't seem to be buying his bullshit, but he isn't buying hers either. He's aware of his mistakes & holding himself accountable, willing to do whatever work obliged is ahead of him. But until then, he asks to just "Let It Bleed (I'm Fine)," usually when people say they're fine, they aren't; I know I'm not when I say so myself. Still, eventually, things will be fine; it's crucial that he acknowledges the pain & is allowing it to run its course; they both have a lot of healing to do.
Once you're locked into your mind, it can seem like there's no way to "Escape" Awk doesn't know if it's the substances talking. Yet, he is for sure crying out; this is a man who's treading the ruins of the destruction he's had to face in his past. He's worried that there might not be a way out of the rubble; he's been long told things will get better. The when isn't so definite, though & he's growing impatient, so he's back to smoking strong, letting the smoke drift him away, into the clouds to "Adam's Song." The spirituality expressed throughout that record & the following two shows that Awk is grateful to have been given a 2nd chance at life & is eager to acknowledge that he is not his pain, nor the trials & tribulations he's had to stare in the face many times before. He wears his "Scars" on his sleeve for all to see; he's "Fallen" from grace before & isn't willing to bring down the guard surrounding his heart as he moves forward; demons won't get the better of him no longer.
