Lil Horror - Changes (EP)

It seems like we're all going through "Changes" at the moment; therefore, we can live vicariously through the motions Lil Horror is maneuvering. Throughout the four-track EP, running just under 10 minutes, she taps into different styles & different emotions, flexing her versatility in such a short burst of time. On "Not Around," we open with a Pop Punk number, detailing her shaking off the separation anxiety she's feeling; she says, "Boys need girls who can carry them," but she can only go so far carrying that weight. Something's gotta give at some point, a break from each other seems imminent, but it doesn't mean she still isn't thinking of him. Hopefully, they'll come around to reconciliation; there's still a connection felt & a yearning for it to link back up.

We then slip into a dreamscape with the R&B laced heartstring puller, "Hands," gripping right to them. She feels the connection slipping away & is begging her partner to hold her close & don't you dare let go. Nobody has a soul quite like yours; Astrus* slides through with a smoothly delivered earnest verse. The synergy is sincere; these two refuse to let the connection slip from their fingers like dust. There's honesty for once; now it's the follow-through on the commitment until you're ready for that. She's going to do her own thing; she's going to do it regardless.

Is that a summer anthem I hear? "Rich Girl" is an absolute banger; her flow on this is extra spicy. Not only is she rich financially, but she's also rich in health; in spirit, you simply can't touch her. She'll come through swinging every time, the gusto in her bravado & the braggadocio in her bounce. Of course, it's concise, just straight to the point, but that's what makes it so good; just like she demands to keep a lot of bands in her hands, this record demands to be on a loop. I absolutely adore the versatility with these 4; how do you just go from that to this "IDGAF"? I'm just glad she did it; she's so raw on this closer. The vocal range is earth-shattering; this is precisely what we want from her, am I right! The rage, the angst of this record reminds me of bands like Kitty, she's slashing throats with these claws & I'm all for it. All for the "Changes" in pace & place, which I'm excited to hear her explore more & more styles in the future cause these four prove she's more than up for the task; I love an artist that refuses to stay boxed in like a coffin, fuck that!
