xBValentine & Dizzy Wright - Drifting (Single)
xBValentine ain’t going to be swerving out of that “Midnight Lane” anytime soon; this music is forever in that midnight zone. After linking with Kap G & Baby Bash on her last two singles, she calls on the criminally underrated Dizzy Wright for another one of these smooth cruise control vibes with “Drifting.” These two are just hydroplaning with their flows on this one, nothing but good music & good smoke as they drift the listener away with them. Feeling like the whip is levitating into heaven as they both speak their respective truths, R&B has never sounded more meditative, if you ask me.
Dizzy comes through swinging; he’s been tired of being left out of the convo of the greats. The Las Vegas-based lyricist has been putting in work for over a decade; how much more could he possibly put in. He’s just living life & writing it as he lives it, rapping with the conviction of an artist who still has a whole lot to show the world. Not everybody knows of his gift, even though he’s been bossed up for many years & many more to come; not only is the smoke he’s blowing different from everyone else’s, but he’s so far apart from the rest. He’s taking risks many artists in his position wouldn’t dare take, so he’s making sure not to let this game get to his head & just keep it down while he keeps it pushing.
Everything is feeling too different for xB; she’s feeling so out of place, out of touch with this reality she was living in, so she’s drifting away from & though it feels like a fantasy. But that’s what everyone else is living in; this is her reality. So she’s better off on our own, surrounded by angels that don’t have to weep every given second. After all, who can you trust more than yourself? I don’t blame anybody for wanting to go about this life thing solo dolo; musically, she’s in her own lane as well, occasionally bringing few who can match her energy into her world & one can only hope these singles are leading up to something more. Who will she bring into her world next is the question, but we’ll roll with these until we have the privilege of seeing.
