SwaVay - Shooter (Single)
Yesterday evening, I was introduced to Atlanta native SwaVay by his most recent release titled "Shooter." I was drawn into how he's able to construct heavy doses of vibrancy and abrasive intensity behind his verses that deliver a stature of greatness to become a fan of instantly. Along with the record, a visual for it came out at the same time that's been on an upward series of views that has it currently sitting at 10K & counting with under 24 hours while more listeners like myself are gaining traction for it to start seeing double the size during the weekend.
The hype sensation of the record's production will reel you into SwaVay lyrical aggression; he doesn't hold back any of his animosity where he's dominating with wordplays that feel like a warning to keep 50ft away from him while he's in clutch mode. At the same time, it's striking fear into your favorite rapper's psyche with a barrage of raps that will heed anyone to approach with caution. Like the visual's opening, he's sending henchman to beat you down and explain how you got yourself in this predicament like the menace he is before getting rid of the evidence; I hope no one is going to miss y'all. This record is the greatest shit you have heard from Atlanta thus far. While most of the content we've listened to from ATL artists in the past has been more trap-infused, this is the street-influenced rap that reflects his come-up. It strongly capitalized on his growing efforts to live a better lifestyle. Still, those disadvantages of people and vices that can get in the way of it all, he's learned to break through and hustle to maintain a better commitment to his aspirations by making a different lane for himself. I like how you get a harmonious wave in the middle of the track before heading back into the original rhythm. The chorus stampeding "Shooter" is one of the many highlights of the joint since he can give you an upbeat sense of how mighty his roar is. He delivers these sequences gracefully before entering a chaotic turn that gives you a more haunting scene of why he's vigorously leading the charge in hip-hop for Atlanta that's going to make a massive splash in the year. He's an artist that is reaching for more than is anticipated and making it look too easy in the process; I'm genuinely excited to see what more is in store for the future from here.
I've had some time after hearing the track and peeping the visual to get more familiar with SwaVay and seen that he’s has a great catalog of content from being on the Spider-Man: Into The Spider Verse soundtrack and his 2020 project “B4dalbum”. He even had co-signs from James Blake & Metro Boomin in the past, which are distinctive looks. I'm hoping more looks like that are something that will surface more for him throughout the year. Until more news is announced for new content, we'll be sure to keep pushing out both the track & video while we hope you all share them both on all available social media platforms.
