ImaniCarolyn - Imani (EP)

The other day while looking through Instagram for new music, I became intrigued when I found this 6-track EP titled “Imani” by songstress ImaniCarolyn that was connected to her previously released single “Outside,” in which I fell in love with her ethereal vocals that serenaded me to cloud nine off the rip. The single is featured on the project fitting nicely with a celestial reign of records that will warm your soul and keep you feeling above the heavens.

Embarking into the “Real World” is a challenging step to make, and she explains those first steps so vividly well in the intro record. You walk around people and fear people can see your weakness written on you. It’s hard to move forward with anxiety flooding your body to the point where you can muster a word out. She lies awake knowing that this day will come when she will have to do this independently, but the fear of not fitting in haunts her dreams. What if they don’t like me? What if they accept? These are just of the few questions that plague our minds, and it’s the unsettling factor that we find ourselves again remembering the times we set foot on our own. Some have yet to go forth in that journey, but I think this record helps with providing relatable feelings when finally ready to make that leap. Love is a complex thing, just like space with all the stars and planets above, not knowing what’s past this vast area. You find yourself together with someone enjoying the things you love to do, and instantly you fall faster back into Earth’s atmosphere, “Crash Landing” in the soil. At the highest peak, you love the emotions, but at the lowest, you want to forget about it. Keep it low-key since it’s nothing but a distant memory now. The Ovrthro-assistance on the track is such a soundscape of pure wonderment in seeing a good thing go bad and feeling the heartbreak through it all, and Imani is right there by his side expressing deep-hearted passion into the ballad that is securing its place as one of my favorite tracks. An “Ode To The Goodlife” is the goals she wants to achieve, the hard work, the sacrifices she’s making to have these things accomplished. We can appreciate an artist of her caliber providing details in her life and the things she holds dear; we hope for all this to be attained for her in the near future. “Found A Way” is the ability to forget the person that caused you so much misery in a relationship. You know in the back of your mind you can go back and salvage the mistakes and make it better, but your heart knows better; the love isn’t there anymore, and you're just trying to put a glass heart back together with glue and tape. Move forward and learn from your grief, find a new light at the tunnel that makes your future brighter; she’s found hers, now you find yours. The outro record is the hidden gem of the project. She links back with Ovrthro to speak about the one thing people want, real love. The one that you hear about in music and movies, the one that can captivate the world to stand still for just a moment. The one love that will be everlasting and, of course, the real love that is all yours. The sentiment of wanting this is not impossible, patience is key to find this love, and she knows it will come at an unexpected moment in her life. I’m stricken with so many emotions on how godly this project was; she swayed and played her heart out on this EP to get to know her tale and if she needs any notion that people listen….I'm here to say I did.

I’m excited to see what’s next for Imani in the future; I know she will do gracefully among the stars; it’s just now knowing when it will happen for her. We highly recommend you check out this EP and make sure to put someone new on to this while sharing it around on all social media avenues.
