Marshall Sinclaire - The Apparition (EP)
I always gotta be honest when I express that, I’m not all too familiar with an artist & that’s the case with Sinclaire here so before jumping into this, I had to do my research, only to find that he has one other project released back in 2017 so I delved into that first before jumping into this years 3 track release. Now I’m not sure what he did in between that time gap but whatever it was certainly fueled him cause his own is fired up & the lyricism is such a step up from that “Noth(K)ing” record. Marshall comes from not much so he’s here to take everything that’s rightfully owed to him, let alone his people.
That’s the sentiment we find he’s fighting for on “Vader VantaBlack”, which is extremely black & a brilliant way to word just what & who he stands for & I hope that it makes those whom he’s addressing so uncomfortable. At least they stand up for one another, not sure that these people he’s addressing could ever band together for a greater cause & not that phony excuse of a movement they use to try to further oppress. Rtst tags along to, I assume add these ill ass scratches to Sinclaire’s powerful lyricism here. He’s not only rapping at such an elite level but teaching you things worth heeding.
He’s taking it back to what I love so much about Hip Hop with these records, just top level rhyming with lessons scattered throughout, even a little introspection here & there, definitely lots of reflection though on not only the shit he’s endured but that he’s had to unfortunately witness his people & loved ones endure. He ain’t gonna sit back & just be silent on all of this, if so, he’d probably be as complicit but he clearly ain’t the type to ever bite his tongue cause as much as I’d like to elaborate on everything he’s saying here, I doubt me reiterating his well articulated & meticulously arranged words would have the same impact as you simply hearing them for yourself & again, heeding, I can’t stress that enough, this is important music right here that forces your ear to listen.
