Baldemar - It’s Gunkpop (EP)
The iconic Baldemar has returned with a three-pack of Lo-Fi gunk pop goodness with his latest EP, immediately jumping into the subtly rhythmic intro where Baldy encourages the listener not to be “Anything But Yourself.” Sounding like a Sunday morning, just breathing in that fresh morning air, gearing up to tackle yet another day of finding our place in this world & though sometimes we tend to be our own worst enemy. We’re all we have at the end of the day, so we must learn just to be ourselves & give ourselves all day, everyday, every step of the way.
“Maybe” we can make it through another day of all that life throws at us, trying to find some meaning for everything that we do & experience in this life. I struggle with that a lot personally, choosing to rather be “sweeping pain under a drug” instead of dealing with it head-on. Maybe we can stop our self-destructive proclivities before they spiral out of control & while it seems like they are here. It’s more of an agile approach to the heavens falling before his very eyes.
I love this metaphor of “Pushing Carts,” it’s like you can hear the sound of the wheels as we all are working towards pushing ourselves out of our own ordeals, struggling to maintain a sense of sanity. In contrast, we push through the mundanity of a 9 to 5 & the tediousness of getting to the positions in life we individually are trying to achieve. Still, it seems that Baldy is trusting the process & enjoy everything he’s experiencing along his journey & so shall we.
