The Weekly Dip 8/18/23
New week, new dip & it’s one of our biggest yet. There are so many new releases to check out during your weekend, and expect a lot much more to follow in the coming days.
Cris Waters - Outside (Video)
Forever Stackin Records' newly-signed artist Cris Waters got to working fast as just hours after his announcement of signing with King Kyle Lee & Jose Hoffman's new label, he’s back “Outside” with Retro Moy parading around town with whips & bikes in his vicinity while running up the bag speaking on his lifestyle and more. Revving up like the engines in the cars surrounding him, Cris doesn’t let off in applying pressure to the rap game as he delivers an incredible hit in the works, going over the struggles he’s faced before to now seeing more positive opportunities in his life. The visual is monstrous to his workload and goes along well with the creativity of his mindset. It’s only just the beginning, so you got time to take notice of Cris Waters, expect his name to be in impact positions more frequently, and doing big things in the process.
Izzy93 feat Lil M3d - Antidote (Video)
Before announcing that he would have to do a 6-month bid behind bars, Izzy93 assured fans that content would still be released as planned. He mentioned that he recorded singles and shot videos before the news and left everything for his management to drop as fit, which we would be seeing the first of many appear. His team has held down the fort during his absence and created the anticipated buzz to see Izzy’s latest visual titled “Antidote” featuring Lil M3d surface, with plenty of fans darting to his YouTube page and running up the views to 10K in just a few hours. The visual has Retro Moy behind the lens, showcasing Izzy in a surgical mask and jacket, holding a double cup, and putting on a clinical over the Keemoh production. Ducking the hoes like 12, Lil M3d picks right up where Izzy leaves off, expressing the comparison on how a real team likes his wins while others fake the funk, hoping to one day be in a similar position. There ain’t no duplicating their success; they’ve worked hard to be in the place they reign in and never let haters or obstacles get in the way of their destiny. This release is one of the best visuals we’ve seen from Izzy, who stayed out of the typical street aesthetic look and shifted for a more immersive storyline, which reflects his growth. You can expect more drops like that coming from the 93 crew and, as always Free Izzy93 until it’s backwards.
MsGold - Baby (Single)
Stepping out from the success of her previous album, “That’s a Awful Lot of Gold,” MsGold returns with a new single titled “Baby,” accompanied by a visual to double-down on the success of the release that is already skyrocketing with plays & views that’s expected to see a lot more to follow in the upcoming days. Gleaming like a brick of gold, the “Big League” femcee is sticking to the usual creed of enjoying the finer things in life and stacking up cash in the process. MsGold flaunts throughout the release with boastful energy, knowing all this hard work is starting to pay off, especially while some counted her out; they are now dealing with the blowback of seeing her shine brighter than ever. Expect more music to follow, and I think because of her newly found changes in her life, it might be some of her best work to date.
Vel Nine - Phases (Video)
Last week, Vel Nine released her single with Nuglife titled “Phases,” where the record was received by fans who adored the soulful medley playing in the background of Vel Nine getting groovy with the rhyme schemes. She’s one of the best out here doing it when it comes to the prestigious raps and the single’s success; she decided to double down by dropping a visual performance of the record that is doing its rounds on social media, gathering attention for the California native. Vel Nine’s veteran presence is, in effect, to show she doesn’t need any help to elevate her worth. She’s been doing this for a while now and never needed to push any agenda for her music to appear pure. She is god-gifted with rap talent, and she gracefully annihilates any beat she hops on to show it.
KNDRX - PLP (Single)
Linking up with Born88, KNDRX surfaces with a new release and quite possibly my favorite record of the month titled “PLP,” where he begins the single in harmonious motion before peeling out in the second half and conducts the single to start swanging through lanes in notorious fashion. KNDRX has showcased his versatile range with these latest releases, going back & forth with the crooning melody and delivering lyrical barrages in a suave manner, immaculately creating this sensational sound in the mix that only elevates his style. KNDRX is exploding with artistry, symbolizing the single's cover art; this isn’t something he needs to prove since it’s evident with his workload. Cutting up the block and looking crisp up on the scene, KNDRX dodges the red and blue while swerving through your neighborhood parking lot, turning heads when he pulls up. Expect greatness and nothing less from KNDRX.
WhyJae - Here’s A Freestyle 2 (Single)
Gearing up to release his upcoming project, WhyJae returns this week with a new record titled “Here’s A Freestyle 2” that is applying immersive pressure for competitors, or let’s face it, at this point, who can stop WhyJae? Clocking in at one minute and thirty seconds, WhyJae shows he doesn’t need much to obliterate your favorite rapper; he does it easily, and this isn’t even his full potential. Lyrically taunting the haters at this point, WhyJae is full-fledged in god mode with back-to-back singles, and still, he has an arsenal waiting to drop, not even mentioning his recently announced project. This is WhyJae back on y’all’s neck, and he is crushing rappers one by one, expect to see more of your favorites appear less in the studio; I wouldn’t go back in if I were them; WhyJae is outside.
Jourden - Flow (Video)
I’ve been doing this blogging shit for a while, so I’m used to everyday artists sharing submissions of their single or project, but to have seven different people hit you up with the same link in the day is something out of the ordinary, it means they found something special and would love for me to take notice. This is how I got introduced to Brooklyn native Jourden, who miraculously would make me a fan within a few seconds of her latest single titled “Flow,” gasping out a lyrical barrage in such a poetic tone & soulful manner that it kept my ears in a tranquil state resonating throughout my listening experience. The record is impactful, not only an incredible introduction but also to know real hip-hop still exists and that there are artists truly revolutionizing the sound. I’m a fan of Jourden and expect her name to appear more frequently in the future.
IVRY GXRL - Fun (Video)
After featuring IVRY GXRL’s single “I Don’t Know” in March, where we received tons of positive feedback from the visual, we waited patiently to see if more music from her would surface. Months later, she would deliver a sensational summer ballad titled “Fun,” accompanied by a visual to show her outside enjoying the summer rays while glowing in the experience, seeing more highs than lows. She is living out her dreams while doing what she wants; IVRY GXRL makes living it up without a care in the world look so damn good. Another record showing off her incredible talent with vocals and the versatility to break out in raps in the second half of the release shows that her artistry is bright.
Thirteendegrees - Go Gangsta (Video)
Last week, we got introduced to Chicago native Thirteendegrees through his latest release titled “Go Gangsta.” The video shows the Chi-Town emcee in a black-and-white aesthetic, flexing out his prominent flow through the streets of the Windy City in impeccable form. Combining the velocity of the record with a stern attitude that elevates his raps and is constructed with the ability to be flawlessly abrasive showcases his musical style in impressive fashion. This isn’t your typical street artist; he’s got a lot of mystery behind his content, and only time will tell where his presence will follow. I recommend getting familiar with his music because, no doubt, his name will be more solidified in the following months.
