The Weekly Dip 10/21/22

Music will continue to drop at the rapid rates it’s been but that doesn’t mean everything is worth listening to. Luckily for y’all, we at Wavez like to filter out everything & leave you with only the purest records in our weekly dip!

Dreamiecloud - Misguided Ghost (Single)

After teasing that new music would soon surface, Dreamiecloud surprised her fans earlier in the week with an announcement that a new single would appear on DSPs at the end of the week titled “Ghost Misguided.” Accompanied by her Kirby plush, she shared a small clip of the record in the middle of the week where she seen in the comfort of her favorite characters, with them sensing something off about her before exploring into the dreamy style ballad which was already flourishing with grace from existing fans and finding new ones. Feeling lonely like Akon, Dreamiecloud explains the feeling of being lost without a care; the person she admires sometimes doesn’t see her for what she truly is, and she wanders around like a ghost with no direction. Seeing right through her like she’s not in the room can react heavily on the heart, and Dreamiecloud expresses the emotions vividly. There’s always more to unravel in her words, the sound is always so tranquil, but she confesses a lot in her music which always leads me to praise her artistry. - Frank Campos

Wiardon - 90 Day Run (Video)

Reluctantly fresh off the release of his deluxe version of his Omarta album, Wiardon surfaced earlier in the month with a new single titled “90 Day Run,” which had him kicked back in cruise control, applying the deepest pressure with raps. Floating over the production like god walking on water, Wiardon is on flex mode, dishing out lyrical warfare in the record; too suave with the wordplays and hot like the kitchen stove after a crack sale, Wiardon doesn’t lose an ounce of precision when whipping effortlessly in this record. If the track wasn’t enough, he linked back with QNTM to raise the bar once again for the competition with a viewing of the release. As the flow becomes more lethal, the production becomes more illustrious, especially with the mix with the jazzy senses to unravel; this track will essentially send your favorite rappers back to the writing boards and help you understand the blueprint of Wiardon's mighty pen.

Mike Dimes - 247 (Video)

Bitch, this game ain’t nothing for Mike Dimes to play as he continues to establish his dominance over the supposed competition. With a 247 tenacity to not only his craft but to attaining the fruits that come of his labor, Mike proves why his vision is only getting clearer as the days pass, while theirs is just slowly dissipating into thin air, soon to never to be visualized again. Mike refuses to be complacent, no matter how much success comes his way, he still chooses to hone in on his craft, even when he’s simply flexing, he’s doing so with the utmost lyrical prowess & not to mention this production might be the nastiest we’ve heard this year & we can thank the GOD BIGTEXJOHNNY for that. You’re gonna need a new sound system after you’re done exhausting the loop of this. These visuals as well find Mike living ever so lavishly after all this newfound success & one can only surmise the stories in the penthouse are to continuously be added onto the more he elevates in this game.

Tr3Coast - Hip! (Video)

The opener to the Tr3Coast latest compilation is an automatic ear grabber, with its zany production & whimsical lyricism throughout. These young gunners are just zig zagging through this beat effortlessly. They clearly take their craft very seriously but not so serious that they can’t have fun with it, treating this beat like their own personal playground, you might as well call their flows monkey bars with how bananas they spitting. I would hate to be the one they catch slipping on the peels of their clips. The way they all bounce off one another is just pure chemistry, this ain’t no group, collective, this is a familial situation they got going on here, just a couple brothers with a dream & a knack for kicking dope content.

SETTHETONE-T - AQUAMAN (Video)

If you’ve been looking to be flooded with bars, then you’ve come to the right place cause the AQUAMAN got you covered. T is really one of those lyricists that sets the tone, let alone continuously raises the bar for how MC’s need be rhyming if they dare wish to ride his wave, shit can get cataclysmic real quick fucking around with these rough waters. His flows will split you apart like the Red Sea if you aren’t careful. It truly is nothing for him to be the rapping machine that he is. These may also be his best visuals yet, really exemplifying how much a seasoned veteran he is at this point, well on his way to legend status if he keeps it up, which he undoubtedly will. The Hip Hop head in me so badly wants to break down his performance here into the science that it is but I’ll let y’all take the time to heed not only what he’s saying but what he’s doing with the words cause it’s wizardry for sure. There’s also another AQUAMAN of his from a year ago floating around in case you’d love to hear the growth since then. Trust us when we say that he’s tidal wavy lyrically at this point in his career.

CEEHAZE - STONE COLD BANDIT (Video)

When it comes to this style, CEEHAZE may be the most underrated in terms of it. He’s been creating these infectious little numbers for quite some time now. Mixing in street sensibilities with a splash of unique & intriguing creativity. The production by Ye11ow gives Haze the perfect zany atmosphere for him to fire his cosmic rays throughout. He’s still that goon at heart so I wouldn’t wanna test him, as you most likely wouldn’t see him coming. Only after your safe haven has been burglarized will you realized that you’ve just been hit by the STONE COLD BANDIT. This record is one of the coldest records we’ve heard from Haze in a minute & the most recent tape of his it’s lifted from “Vladkillr” is full of some of Haze’s best work to date.

YaH-Ra - Californication (Video)

No, this is not a Red Hot Chili Peppers cover but it may be even hotter than their classic record, in it’s own respectful right. If you’ve been following the legendary Planet Asia then you’ve seen this young lady plenty. She’s a criminally underrated MC that more people need to be paying closer attention to. She has this soft tonality in her dense flows & abstract lyricism that really forces your ear to listen & heed the importance of what’s she’s speaking on. The visuals themselves take you on a journey through sunny Cal as she crusades over this beat cosmically cause these bars of hers are so far out of this world. It’s records like this that really bring that oomph to the culture of Hip Hop, that Boom Bap flavor with the bars to match it. Be sure to peep her “Californication: Westside Tales” album for more of this if that’s what you’re seeking but you best be prepared to learn.

Diani - Lil Bit (feat. Chelsea Reject) (Video)

Diani & Chelsea weave a natural vibe of love that is so so groovy. With production done DJ J Hart, these ladies aren’t looking for much, just a little of your love & attention cause clearly they feeling you. The song itself is a subtle banger, with a more modernist trap feel but also has these underlying nostalgia tinged elements to it as well. The visuals really play on that too, so uniquely edited they are. She clearly can’t get this boy out of her head, pondering him while she’s out here working, thinking about how much she used to curve him only to realize that he was actually a blessing, funny how that works. Chelsea then comes on in hopes to open your third eye with her cosmic lyricism. It’s a sweet little ditty about being attached at the hip to someone. Just give them a little something so they can know you still feeling them as much as they feeling you.
