All About Growth - Gs2 (Album)

Back in February, All About Growth invited a bevy of emcees, engineers, producers & creatives like Donnie Canvas, TB Robby, Jordan Tyler, C Rayy, VIEWZ’s own Jay Ross & many more into a four-day studio session where verses were written, vocals were made, and records were recorded in a timeless moment called Growth Sessions 2. Each member and some of the people in those sessions have described the moment as a memorable experience. It was a similar concept to the Dreamville sessions. Yet, here it was made with more of a premeditated touch of wanting to create incredible content with people who share the same goal at hand: making the city whole in one monumental juncture in their musical journey. The sessions would grow into being something described on social media as “you had to be present in the studio to witness the greatness of it all.” They did the best to their ability to share that same description for listeners by announcing a few weeks later that an album with the same name as the sessions would be surfacing with tracks that were recorded during the four-day studio assembly. It was mentioned that not all the tracks produced in the four-day interval we’re going to be on the album, including verses that were intended for specific tracks that did not make the cut. It’s only fair since I’m sure a bombardment of content was created in these sittings. If all the verses meant to be on the record would have just saturated the listening experience, it’s only fitting that they make an executive decision like that.

I “Feel Like I Made It” with the opening track setting ablaze with swift-paced flows and structure rhymes scheme that is deadly to the weak-hearted. I would fear my position if I was an artist who thinks they can take on these four horsemen of terror behind the mics and live to tell another tale. “Murderous” is a barbaric record that is brutally savage with raps that can have your limbs end up missing by the end of the song. “Nothing To Lose” is more of an upbeat joint, definitely different from the rest. Still, I like it because as talented as the lineup is with lyrical raps, I wanted to hear some of the laid-back tunes with melodic vocals being applied. Here, the trio mixed up the vibrant sounds so smoothly that it becomes a trailblazer on its own accord. The “Talk Of The Town” is that the guys here are “Making Movez.” It “Ain’t Safe” for the cowardly artists to be out when there roaming the concrete jungles or set fires in the studio. Keep the hate out your mouth when addressing any of these artists here and leave the bullshit to the unwarranted “Twitter Beefs” because while you speak ill on their names, they can care less at this point since there “Running Up the Racks” so “Don’t Plan To Wait” on there demise happening anytime soon.

Salute to everybody for sharing a piece of themselves on this project, your presence during the sessions; I’m sure meant the world to everyone in attendance. Even if you didn’t make the project or your verse didn’t make your record, I’m sure they wouldn’t want you anywhere but there with them. There should never be any talk that San Antonio doesn’t have any good music coming out here, all of these guys have just turned doubters into believers with this project, and I will solely back that up as long as I live. Be sure to take time in your day and give this project a listen; it might just put you on to new artists to check out, but one thing is for sure that it will have you feeling like the world is for the taking, so go ahead and take it.
