Highstrung - L.Y.F.E. (Live Your Freedom Everyday) (Album)
After many months of teasing his fanbase that new music was on the way, Highstrung was on the verge of dropping something with significant impact soon. He released two high-favored visual, one was with Aliza1K that's been seeing plenty of views over its month timeframe, and it's praise for going beyond the grain. He's conducted a series of interviews with all creatives alike in and out of the city who share intimate conversations about their initial come ups. While all this was happening, he recorded the project, which played a massive part in the background to make him deliver to his listeners & his city the album they deserved. That's dedication, and while some might argue that time shouldn't play a factor, I'm telling you firsthand that it does. Perfection is essential, and Highstrung didn't get to where he's at by rushing anything, so he let this project stew over for some time until he knew we were ready to feast in to devour.
The long-awaited project from Highstrung titled "L.Y.F.E. (Live Your Freedom Everyday) has finally made its way out, and the project's deliverance was more than anticipated. It arrived on his born day of February 1st, which was an ironic surprise since it's a day where he's supposed to be receiving presents. Instead, he gifted us this promising project that felt it was more than a special occasion. A timeless moment where the city had all eyes on him set the motion for his legacy to be a historic date in the city's timeline. The album has features from artists like Spechal, Ron G, Aliza1K, Ferocious, Kdot, Cadillac Muzik, Chris Byrd, Neil Alex, Tylee Martin, Mickey Waves, & Brae Leni, which is an incredible lineup to have for a project. (Bravo) In this modern age, while most people will be satisfied with just 8-10 tracks and feel like more is overkill, Highstrung said fuck it, I'm still giving you 22-tracks of solid raps. Now I'm usually perturbed to hear all these tracks at once, but since the introduction "February 1st" was so powerful, I couldn't care less at the moment. It could've been 100 songs, and I would've still been happy. No artist needs to go that hard for the intro. I mean, I know it's one of the most important parts of the album, but damn, Highstrung let the beat breathe. Hardest rapper out here with no gimmicks, and he's doesn't give one fuck if your offended. Transcending with no trendsetting, this right here is what set him different from all of the other artists. No competition in sight right from the start; he's a "Legend" making "Mo Money" in the "Lone Star State," and his verses are here to "Tell Em" wassup. Each record has a purpose; there's no need for filler spaces in this album since this right here is the greatness, not in the making; oh no, we're past that by a mile, he's in the future making boss moves waiting for you all to catch up. "Celebrate" is a track that made me rewrite this post so many times because while he's spilling his emotion on his memories that got him to where he's at in life, you have to make sure to grasp all that feeling, all those sacrifices he's put in. After all, if you don't then, you lose the reasoning behind the song, and I've done my job poorly if I'm not able to transcribe his initial thought process for all of you to catch on and understand him as an artist. "Long Road" on the "Come Up," from eating "Grandma Cooking" to "Win" at having the "Best Lyfe," I don't think these titles were done like this by accident; I think he's telling you another tale in them because at the end of this project you should be able to know Paul Hightower, not Highstrung. "What More Can I Say" is the overcharged finale of the album that is hyped from start to finish, which means this is the celebratory run, the victory lap, so you will. Let him bask in the glory, especially after the time it took to make this & perfect it. You gave in a listen to his story while at the same time listening to history being accomplished.
Highstrung, you sought out to make a great album, yet I think, as always, you had bigger goals for it, and you reached them. This album is unscathed to anything here in the city, and I think it'll be like that for a while since it set the bar too high for releases. I hope you all listened to it like I did and got every piece of him in it. Be sure to share this album on all available social media platforms.
