Frex - Who’s Who (Single)
Los Angeles based R&B artist Frex dishes out a lighthearted take on the strain of temptation before the eventual return to a former love interest on her latest single “Who’s Who”. The synthy and rhythmic single is a satisfying delight to the ear that enacts a free-willing spirit over the risk of a flirtatious connection.
The track consists of a collection of pleasing layers from kick-drums, distorted 808’s and a synth loop that channels through the contemplative writing. There is an enchanting aspect to her vocals on this track that really shine on the hook where she says, “I’m never gonna find somebody, Someone like you. I could try but, I don’t want to.” It doesn’t signal vulnerability but rather conveys the love-struck sentiment she carries for this person. I think it blends well with the overall idealistic vibe to the song. What I appreciate most about this track is the analogy between the “damned if I do, damned if I don’t” writing and the semi-distorted yet soothing alt. pop-beat that mirror and complement one another.
“Who’s Who” is a vibrant admittance of falling for a reoccurring connection with someone and the willingness to explore that connection for its rewarding moments despite the risk. Who’s Who can be streamed now on all music streaming platforms. You can also find Frex currently touring major cities across the U.S.
