Le$ & DJ Mr. Rodgers - Last Laugh: The Prelude (Album)
After recently combining efforts on the third installment of their “Settle 4 Le$” series, Le$ and DJ Mr. Rodgers are back like they never left with another collaborative project titled “Last Laugh: The Prelude.” The 15-track project not only sees Le$ back in his rapping bag but also showcases the fine work of production laced by DJ Mr. Rodgers. Le$ paints the portrait, and Mr. Rodgers supplies the tools to bring it to life. He addresses his success and the hate he gets for staying real—an absurd thing, but it comes with the grind. He suggests not paying it any mind unless it affects his finances. It doesn't need his attention if it doesn’t move his money.
Le$ opens up the project with “Villain Era/Carbon Fiber,” building up the hype around the production before dropping gems in classic Le$ fashion. His wisdom, embedded in his raps, is for the real ones to recognize and appreciate. Le$ likes to throw in a few suave lines and comical comments in his raps that float with ease, adding to his unique essence. His immaculate lyricism combined with explosive swagger makes for a formidable combination to duplicate, solidifying his status as one of a kind in the rap game. He pays homage to the boss Slim Thug by sampling his vocals on “Candy Dreams/Targa Top,” where he touches on the highs and lows of his career. Through blood, sweat, and tears, his sacrifices helped build his empire. Overlooked and hard-working, he achieved his success as a payoff for his grind. I've often spoken about how Le$ speaks volumes when he uses his story to inspire people like me who are chasing a dream. I've seen his start and journey to bring his vision to life, and now he's living and prospering with his wins every day. "The Lord Say The Same" rocks heavy in the speakers, and when adjusting the levels, you can see "Eye To Eye" with his vision, knowing this journey is a "Bloodsport." Despite the intensity, Le$ remains "Self-aware" that this could be gone tomorrow, so he lives it up for today and hopes it continues the next. DJ Mr. Rodgers' production is crucial, sparking the aura that Le$ brings in and finishes to conclude the track. Like Tim Duncan and David Robinson, this duo is lethal and unstoppable and destined for legendary status.
With the album being named "The Prelude," you can only assume that more from this dynamic duo is coming in the near future. Le$ enjoys stunting on your favorite rapper, so I'm sure something is in the works for the next album. In the meantime, we'll keep this spinning in rotation and hope y’all do the same.
