You can smell the love in the air as it’s drifting through it like pink smoke emitting off of the trail of roses Violet is leaving behind for her “Crush” to follow. Don’t you just love these quote unquote “simp” records? A lot of people feel like you don’t hear too many records that are vulnerable as this one, particularly when it comes to the women cause most tend to not need a man but that is not the same thing as wanting one, especially when you can see, clear as day that this is the soul you wish to fall asleep at night beside. I’m sure all of us can relate to longing for that crush of ours to lead to something. A lot of us tend to get clammed up when it comes to actually professing our infatuation with someone, it’s definitely a risk but the worst that can happen is you get turned down but when you’re as confident in your beauty as she is, I don’t think that’s very likely to happen.
The production on this record immediately causes the butterflies in your stomach to flutter rapidly like its monarch season. A crush can leave you feeling fuzzier than the pixie dust off their wings & that’s exactly the case with hers. Nothing on this earth matters other than hooking up, potentially becoming an official thing. As she puts it, this is an ode to that first time in the sheets. I’m sure most of us, that’s if you still haven’t lost yours yet or if you’re celibate, can’t relate to the day you decided to give all of yourself to someone. I’m assuming at least a good handful of people’s first time was magical & not a horrific waste of your time & improper use of your body. This record will surely take you back to that time or it could even remind you of the crushes you have now, fingers crossed that they accept you for all of you.
It’s a simple record but a smash single nonetheless. It’s playful & sincere in its lyricism & her vocals will melt you the same way her crush did her when they first locked eyes. Violet has been on a tear lately, well with the two previous singles to go alongside this one, I’d say we may be in store for her sophomore effort sometime this year, one can only hope but we got another heartwarming single to hold us over til then! It’s Valentine’s Day all year long with records like this!
