Gabrielle B. - Unscripted (EP)
On her 4th EP, Gabrielle is allowing her raw, seething emotions to just surge out of her like an artesian well. On the album’s intro, she’s being as sincere as one possibly can. It’s almost like she’s riddled with guilt or at least questioning if she made the right decision to walk away from this person. She played her role in this dynamic but ultimately removed herself as she sensed she was only standing in their way, really it was them who was doing that but, blame shifting you know? She heeded the lessons from it however & although a part of her feels bad that this person felt the burn of a woman scorned, she never intended them to take it as badly as they did, although their emotional response to her doing what’s best for herself & maybe even both parties shouldn’t be of much concern to her.
It’s sad when love has ran it’s course & two people who may still have deep love for one another are “Out of Time” to repair things. She don’t even have time left to reminisce on the good parts of the relationship, the reasons she would’ve used as excuses to stay in this dynamic. She clearly spent a lot of time catering to this person & they unfortunately just could never fully appreciate it or even see it enough to do so, just so selfishly caught up in their own BS to ever consider how their actions were affecting her. She moved onto someone new & is now infatuated by the “Little Things” this person does to make her feel safe emotionally, it’s not something she’s all too used to but luckily she’s able to accept the love after dealing with the past trauma of her last relationship. It’s beautiful when you meet someone who makes you feel like you can lower your portcullis, let your guard down if you will.
The love blossoming between the two is “Undeniable”. The best relationship you’ll ever have is with yourself & the second best relationship you’ll ever have is when both parties love themselves. She’s grateful this is the case with her on this soulfully soaring number. After all these years, it has to be so relieving that someone was able to patiently guide her to letting each wall she had put up prior to them, down. It’s gotta be free to just, “Be” for once in your life. People tend to get a little too possessive of their partners & their whole world revolves around them, they have no life outside the relationship & that can be very exhausting to deal with. Overall, this EP is a poignantly powerful emotional experience, ending with the cool breezes of “Westside”, she finally feels at home again with this new person & you love to see it.
