Kevin McGee feat Baby Aztro - Heavy Weight (Single)

The homie Kevin McGee promised us that he wasn’t gonna let up this year, one album, an EP, 3 singles & now a 4th that is the 1st to be ushering in his latest project, a new series of singles “& Friends” so I for one am already excited to see who else he’s gonna collab with if we’re starting off with this “Heavy Weight” of a feature in Baby Aztro. Not the collab I was ever expecting but the collab I never knew I needed, the Hip Hop head in me has had to fight hard to not faint at the very sight of both of these brother’s names right beside one another on a record. For lovers of that lost art of the Boom Bap, this record is for you, Hip Hop at its finest, Golden Era type shit!

Kevin has always impressed me with his rhymes but it’s like, he knew he was about to be rhyming alongside Baby Aztro’s rapping ass so he had to deliver some of his best in order to bring out yet another masterful verse from him, as if we’re still not having our minds boggled by what he’s done on his “False Idle” album, the man is not of this Earth to be rapping at this elite a level! You don’t wanna spar with the boy, it’s like getting sliced with the samurai sword! You damn right Kev, glad that you acknowledge that, yeah, we can be cool in real life but when it comes down to this rap shit, you gotta understand that, this is a bloodsport & I’ll be goddamned if I willingly let my head get cut clean off, not to mention the fact that he rhymes all that & it’s not even supposed to rhyme, incredible.

Even the homonym to follow the brutal line about ripping out your vocal chords & playing them is brilliant & the metaphors, I ain’t never heard nobody say you soften than date night, that’s hilarious. That scheme that so seamlessly bleeds into the next is just, I mean, he’s giving y’all a masterclass of rhyme with this concise little verse, doing more than most rappers who overrap. Not to mention, did y’all catch how many times Aztro manipulated the word “box”, I mean they just showing off at this point, it’s a fucking cake walk for these gentlemen to continuously find new ways to play with these words & yes, shoutout the God Slick Rick for inspiring such heavyweight bars out another God! So so excited to see how Kevin follows this one up & with who at that!
