Queenie Lasoul - The KickBack (EP)

After being introduced to Queen Lasoul back in July, we waited patiently on when we got the next opportunity to feature the soulful songstress back on the site, and luckily it didn’t take long for it to happen. Towards the end of August, Queenie dropped a 6-track EP titled “The KickBack,” which featured the single “Track 3” among some new joints that would continue our quest to learn as much as possible about the Atlanta native. In the mix of the project's release, Queenie even dropped a visual treatment to her record “Nice Like Ouu” to continue placing the project onto new listeners, which I can see more people approaching her sound. We know we can continue to help out on our end and get out viewership to notice more of her art too.

Let anybody tell you I’m a sucker for intros, so when I come across a new project, if the opening doesn’t move me, then the rest of the album needs to come with it; this ain’t the case here as “The Intro” was everything I love about hearing the first track of the project. It kept me calm and relaxed while Queenie sang her signature known third language, poetry, to the heavens to have the moon and stars fall alongside your listening experience, which made me feel like I was floating in the water. Her conscience speaking in raps is by far my favorite thing out; these bars are so hard that it makes you stop and think, a lot of artists right now ain’t doing shit like that no more, and it’s a shame which is why artists like Queenie Lasoul gets my full attention. Her build-up is notoriously incredible in the track, like she went from slow-burning this single to raising the temperature and burning it down with embers to follow onto the next track. Her follow-up record, “Nice Like Ouu” got Queenie catching a vibe, letting the apple of her eye know they got her feeling nice, almost like something she never felt before. She’s enticing with the wordplay and lets her emotions roam freely through their minds letting them know she got their weakness and their desires wrapped up inside of her; knowing if they can get it or not is the mystery they have to wait and see. Of course, “Track 3” is where we got introduced to Queenie, so you know how much we already adore this release; we were hyped to find it in the tracklist, which perfectly fits the kickback feel of the project. Queenie continues her journey in the EP to her next joint titled “Miss Me Wit That,” which has her addressing the movement in the intimacy she’s feeling with someone else who may be losing control of her vibe. She isn’t feeling it when she has to repeat herself; you know what she’s going through just like she knows what’s happening in your life; consider that in the time you have her, or you can kick rocks if you tend to mess up a good thing. “Pull Up” when you feel her energy asking you to come, ain’t no looking for no but you. She’s been waiting for you all night and can’t go any longer without you, don’t have her waiting anymore because she knows when you arrive, she’ll feel so right. Free-flowing with the outro and showing her “Dance Moves,” Queenie creates a bop that will surely get your hips rocking and feet moving when the record is spinning. She doesn’t care who’s watching because she has let go of everything dwelling in her mind to get lost on the dance floor; the high is potent, like the indica she’s smoking, and she’s floating higher and higher, and her hair is getting tangled in a cloud. It’s one of those releases that securely end a project on a high note but is designed to bring multiple play-throughs throughout the year.

The world is Queenie Lasoul, and we’re just living in it. I truly enjoyed this project and am glad to be blessed with her talent on these occasions. I’m sure there is more in store for the future for Queenie but until then, just enjoy her latest project, which I know y’all will. Make sure to share it around on all social media avenues.
