IGWE AKA - OFF BRAND (feat. Camilla Covington) (Video)

Easily one of the most earnest records you’ll hear all year, IGWE AKA links with the lovely Camilla Covington for this giddy little ditty! Now Camilla I’m personally familiar with, she’s been making a lot of noise as of late & what intrigues me the most is that, none of these records she’s been dropping sound alike, they all differ in their own respective rights. IGWE, whom she calls a ball of sunshine, exudes that spherically solar energy ever so delicately on this number. Expressing his freedom now that he’s cut loose from the shackles of a relationship that was no longer serving him, he’s now simply riding around town, carefree.

Camilla really lets her inner songbird chirp so softly on this number, her vocals softer than feathers as they gracefully float above this heartfelt production. She doesn’t sound phased at all by having to move on from this person, it’s their fault for fumbling a soul as precious as hers is. Her writing throughout her verse may be her most sincere yet. So many lines you can take out of this verse & use as your own personal mantras. I’d say the standout line in hers would be “I’m a champion, it’s not a god complex as long as I defend it”, like ugh, that lyric alone packs so much power.

The visuals find these two having the time of their lives, wasting their youth on the young & embracing that inner adolescence as they maneuver through the city freely, as if the roads they’re traveling on were meadows for them to roam gleefully throughout. Hopefully there’s no issues getting this beautifully earnest little single up on the streaming platforms. I only say that cause if you go to IGWE’s IG, you’ll find a hilariously concise clip of these two running into some trouble trying to shoot another scene for these visuals. Even the authorities couldn’t rain on their parade cause when you’re this happy with life, the only person who can put a stop to that is yourself. It’d be so “Off Brand” for them to allow anyone to put a stop to that.
