Hoodlum - Family Feud (Video)

After time away from being locked down in the studio, working on his subsequent follow-up with Big Tex Johnny & being out on tour with Maxo Kream, Southside Hoodlum is back with a new visual release this week titled “Family Feud.” The first half of the Ace The Shooter-directed video has Hoodlum accompanied by his baby girl in the driver seat of the black-on-black Bentley. At the same time, someone sitting in the middle of the road with a hood over their head stays complacent while the background scenery creates a sinister plot line. Shots of his performance from his last show can also be seen in the mix, then heading to the second look of the release has Hoodlum flexing out his grill in the camera while other shots have him posing in front of his “Lord Knows” cover art while staying double cupped around his crib and back to the driver seat of the Bentley.

Nobody wins when the family feuds, Hoodlum stands ten toes down with this fiery production curated by Big Tex Johnny that makes the heavens sing while Hoodlum picks up right where he left off. He feeds his family right, yet they feed off his good doing and take it as weakness. Why bite the hand that provides for him? It isn’t going to bother him any; he’s looking forward to the plan that he designed to get him this far in life. AK by the bed waiting to be used; if it isn’t the opps lurking for him, then it’s the cup of the drank that can lead to his demise. Yet this is why he’s living life to the fullest; there’s no telling when it’s your time to go, so he’s awaiting it like it could be today. Hoodlum speaks in such a violent tone on this record; it’s not perceived as such since his signature nonchalant mannerism clutch towards the beat. Still, when breaking his lyrics, you can sense the reality of how Hoodlum is looking at the world nowadays. It’s an incredible record that goes hand in hand with his second release of the video. Of course, another sample-inducing hit by Big Tex Johnny covers the atmosphere while Hoodlum breaks down the beat as he would do if he’s rolling up a sweet. Backed by his hoarse sound, he covers up the block with street dreams & tales of the gritty nights he’s had to come up the days he has now. Soul drenched in the mud, he’s slipping, but he’s dripping in gold no matter the substance he’s on; Hoodlum is the Southside representation that you can make it out of the trap while sticking to the script of seeing better days ahead. He’s on point with his direction on this release, and it begins the anticipation to see what more he has in store.

Hoodlum has stated that he’s in the finishing stages of his album to be out hopefully by the middle of the 3rd quarter of the year, including a performance here in the city to go along with it. Keep your attention to his social media to see if any announcements get made in the near future. In the meantime, be sure to check out his latest release here while sharing it around on all social media avenues.
