King Khali - Chroma GREEN (EP)

Khali wastes zero time on the follow up to “Chroma RED”, almost like he’s giving himself the green light. The contrast between these double singles he’s been blessing us with really showcase his versatilities musically. Not entirely sure what color is to follow GREEN but at this point, any detractors he may have are all seemingly jealous of him, for a multitude of obvious reasons, the main one being, he simply raps better, especially whenever he’s on his ignorant shit. Last time, it was “Leg Room” but this time around, he’s Tarabullying his way to complete dominance over the Pinhead Larry’s of the music scene.

BigTexJohnny supplied a monster of production for Khali to rob the competition over & he does it so quickly & effortlessly that, whoever’s home he’s invading, they don’t know what the fuck just hit them. Nothing quite like an infectious sample on a hard ass beat, Khali got plenty of records like that, he also got plenty of ignorant shit & this just another one to add to the list of records like “Rob Van Dam” & “Tarabully”, this track is right up there with them but honestly, blows those out the water & it’s literally the most concise out of those, proving that Khali don’t need much time to utterly shit on you for ever thinking you stood a chance, the beat is barely hanging on a thread after he tears through it the way he does.

When it comes to introspection, nobody & I mean nobody, does it at the level that Khali does it. I appreciate how much of his real life & emotions he allows to bleed throughout his music, that heart of his forever remaining on his sleeve. Whereas “Chase” had a more upbeat feel to it, there’s a certain sadness looming throughout “As I Am”. From broken relationships, be it romantic, friend, familial, as lonely as it probably was for him to get to this point, now that he’s at this point, he’s still pretty lonely but he’s found a certain comfort in it. It’s sad when you realize that you can’t bring everybody you care about to the levels you’re headed to, when you find out their ulterior motives, when they stop supporting the moves you’re making for whatever reason. What Khali speaks of is real life & we all experience similar things & can draw those correlations when hearing him speak so bless him for shedding light on his pain & sharing that wisdom he’s attained as a result. OLA comes through & laces the track with ever more soul, baring it completely over this ode to accepting people as they are.
