ImaniCarolyn - Coming Home (Single)

The first single of 2022 from ImaniCarolyn surfaced last week when her soulful ballad titled “Come Home” hit DSPs at the top of that week that then entered the weekend with her tranquil vocals flourishing well through March so far. It’s a single that will quickly see a continuous streak of plays be fulfilled until the end of the month that will head into April to do stunning numbers in as well. The record shares the emotional decision of Imani leaving Texas to pursue her career in music to the west coast that has been a learning and fulfilling experience so far & one that she doesn’t shy away from putting herself out there for us to bear witness to her soul venting. 

One spliff at a time keeps Imani at bay while she’s left here without you but give her two hours, and she’ll be back in your presence. No one makes her feel the way you do; as soon as she touches down, she’s hitting you up to be at your location, aka home. When she approaches your crib, let her in with a glass of your love, one sip will do. This feeling is marvelous, a welcome back treat if you will, like your mother’s cooking or your grandmother’s baking. It’s something she yearns for when she comes home and looks to cherish when she’s back in the state. Imani doesn’t hold back the level of intimacy she has for these special moments, and while she deserves your love, she wants to be lost in that moment before she has to head back out again, lusting for this pleasurable juncture again. The record could have a deeper meaning, like a homage to Common’s “I Used To H.E.R” or Kanye’s Homecoming” where it’s not someone, in particular, she’s talking about but the love & admiration of missing her hometown. She’s embarked on a new journey, and while that could be a frightening change of pace, it’s something she knows she has to do to fulfill her dream. ImaniCarolyn isn’t an artist who conducts music like others; she’s a one-of-a-kind soul that shares her heart to the listener every time she delivers a new record for us to fall over heels for. It’s the surge to be filled with such vibrant sounds from beginning to end that leads us to every one of her single with the openness that we will never be disappointed but gifted every single time. 

I’m genuinely rooting for ImaniCarolyn this year. She has quickly become one of our favorite artists to receive new music from, and I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of her art conveyed throughout the year; even with her hopping back into production, that should see her stunning vocals bless over her beats.
