Eastside Fish & Throwed Mind - Money & Dope (EP)

One of the most talked-about emcees in 2022 has to be Eastside Fish. Ever since his return back from hiatus, we’ve seen Eastside Fish practically all over our timeline every day since his addition to the highly prestigious Tree Team, where not long after, we saw more of a presence from him with new music that was accompanied by the already blessed sounds made by Reek & Sage. Eastside Fish has also found himself dropping solo singles in the process, which has him seeing more limelight of success with the visuals he’s dropped, exceeding past the 1K mark well within a few hours of release. In continuing to provide that audio dope, Fish recently linked up with producer Throwed Mind to speak on the topic of “Dope & Money” in a 4-track EP that includes some verses from Reek, that’s all made within the Tree Team format to bring us another wave of art to cherish from Eastside Fish.

Beginning with a laid-back sample of Macke Browne & The Brother’s Soul, Eastside Fish starts engaging in heavy with the intro freestyle titled “Side Hustle,” which extends the tale of Fish speaking to a woman of his needs for the evening. Pimping at its finest when it comes to bars, Fish is delivering outstanding ability on wax where it’s a tough choice to pinpoint what makes the record flourish so smooth: the ill style of the production or Fish swaying over nicely on the track. Whether the reason is for you, make sure to have this in rotation for your daily listening & break bread every time it plays. The next record, “Dirty Money,” was the first single released that followed up with the announcement of the EP. The record had already struck gold with just how slick the production was pressed on it, and then add the way Reek & Fish rode the wave on this joint; it’s an incredible drop and one of my favorite singles to appear in the year so far. Everyone goes through “Hard Times,” but it’s how you cope with them that makes the days go by easy for you. Fish speaks on the days that seem harder than most, and what he overcame to be in the place he’s at now is a blessing for him. Hustle by any means necessary & Fish did that to see a better future for him. Reek sparks up another conscience verse when diving into the record; he speaks of the Internet crazes and clout chasing that people get lost in and stay trapped in a space where it seems Ike there’s no escaping. People will claw & sacrifice everything for a moment of attention, not seeing that the world is in dire need of minds to focus on the bigger picture. It’s a strong record of personal empowerment to help get you through those tough days when all hope seems to be gone. Fish is done saying he’s done playing, and right here on the “Outro,” he spills his soul on not being combative anymore in life; he wants to see success finally happen for him due to the hard work and grind. He could see himself doing street shit, but there’s no means to an end for him there. Not trying to be the best but only trying to catch a check; Fish is venting on this record and is allowing us to listen in to the session. This single helps you understand Eastside Fish on a more personable level, and I commend him for showing out his heart on audio, and I hope to see more tracks like this make their way out from him in the near future.

We’re about to enter the fourth month of the year, and I already know we’ll be seeing more of Eastside Fish’s name tower in the city while getting outside views in the process. Be sure to check out the EP here while sharing it around on all social media avenues.
