R.A. The Rugged Man feat Ghostface Killah, Masta Killa, Kool G Rap, Xx3eme - Dragon Fire (Video)

I love that, even though this album was released back in 2020, the legendary Rugged Man decided to stay, not only capitalizing off its success but reminding anybody who may have forgotten just how many gems are littered throughout its entirety. Records like this are few & far between, just as R.A. albums are & especially in today’s climate. I heard someone refer to lyrical onslaughts as such as “Headache rap” cause it’s just too much coming at you but that’s what I expect when I see a posse cut with as many heavyweights on it as this one. Fortunately, not all of my personal heroes are dead, a few of them are on this cut reminding fair weather ass Hip Hop fans that the old heads still got it.

Ghostface Killah opens up this record, slashing everything in his path, playing off the word “killer” throughout his entire verse, which alone is brilliant cause I’ve never heard anyone do it, still doing original shit, forever separating himself from the weaker MC’s. It’s also been a minute since we heard from Wu affiliate Masta Killa but he sounds fresh as ever on his verse. R.A. is as elite as they come so of course he’s gonna spaz like he always does, especially when he’s surrounded by his heroes, whom he also brings the best out of. I mean, Kool G Rap absolutely stole the show on this record & the visuals. Loved seeing him out & about, especially after his appearance on Alchemist’s latest Kraft single. Perhaps Kool G is preparing something big for this year, one can only hope!

Linking back up with Shane Alexander Caldwell, alongside Linn Marie Christensen, both respected directors who also had a hand in “Hate Speech”, team back up again with R.A. to bring cinematic life to this monstrous single. If you know anything about R.A., he’s a director himself & a major movie buff, just peep his DVD collection, whew! The comic like edits alone are beautifully executed, unlike the poor, helpless woman who’s subject to this criminality unfortunately. Can’t even relax & read a book in the comfort of your own home with these lyrical killers around on their assassin shit. I also love R.A. paying homage to one of my personal favorite films “Eyes Wide Shut” during his segment of the visuals. It’s a massacre of a visual but a beautiful macabre nonetheless. Horror fans, Hip Hop Heads & even Action Buffs will all agree this is definitely contender for video of the year.
