Awkward Lowlife - Okult (Album)

Awk Low is infamous for his vulnerability throughout his dismal & melancholy melodies & his latest release, not only proves how prolific he continues to be but is also strictly for the Kult members, as anybody who’s been following him will find something to appreciate with each of these records. The cover art alone may just be his best yet, looking like a true Kult leader but don’t get it twisted, as reckless as this “Kult Life” can get, it’s nothing but love he has for his followers, granted they don’t overstep any boundaries. There won’t truly another like Awkward the day he steps down from his throne but that don’t seem like it’s happening any time soon. The acoustics on “Numb” really snip the heartstrings of those who can relate to his self deprecating ways. Awk can’t understand why he’s even still alive with the kind of life he leads but by the grace of God or maybe just sheer luck, he’s still here & we’re grateful he’s still breathing, even if he wishes he wasn’t, though I have to believe some part of him, despite his self sabotaging, has a lot to live for.

A lot of us use these substances to gain temporary pleasures in hopes to numb the pain we may be feeling & if you know Awk like that, you know he carries alot of pain within him on the daily. He has no reservations about who he is, he knows full well he’s an addict, a unique experience that only few can understand & empathize with. It’s almost like he’s tired of feeling “So Alone” all the time, yearning to see his loved ones again so if he can speed up that process then why not? It’s heartbreaking & tragic but we very much appreciate his honesty & vulnerability. Calling on Girl Parts again, the two ask that anybody who may be on fake shit to not hit their line on “Don’t Hit My Phone”. Ain’t it funny how people claim to care but the only time they ever do hit you up is because they want something, whether that be money or a favor? It can be exhausting to deal with & only serves to make you feel even more alone like damn, do you not care how I’m doing, how I’m feeling? Most time, they don’t even bother to ask. People as such serve no purpose in your life.

Whenever Awk taps a feature from someone relatively unknown, he always tends to bring out the best in them & that’s exactly the case with this Hugh assisted number “Like Me”. They both can see right through the facade these individuals try to present to them in hopes to fit in to this Kult life but they can never & will never be on their level, they couldn’t even come close to it so the two come together to stop these people in their tracks before they wound up embarrassing themselves by trying to be someone they know full well they aren’t. He never tried to be who he isn’t, he’s always been this way & he “Still” will til the day he is no longer. People like he & Pleasus don’t really give a fuck if they give off bad vibes, they will gladly play the role of the villains. The true “Bad Guys” of this industry.
